Hi, I am looking for some advise of where to start, or more specifically what to start with. I have smoked for many years, quit only to start again many times. I am sick of the smell etc and want to try vaping. I have a friend that has a DSE 901........ i tried it and it was not too bad. Seemed to be just like smoking to me. I have been reading posts and gathering information. It seems like there are so many choices out there and some, pick one only to change to something else. I was wondering if anyone had some advice as where I could start. I want to get one ordered asap and, will be letting my husband try it too as he is ready to make a change. Also, it seems there are huge price variations so that is somewhat confusing too.

Just a noobie with lots to learn!

thanks much! Josie

I have a 510 starter kit from cignot. You can't go wrong for a kit at 35 bucks. It's one of the best kits at a great price. With the kit you get 2 batteries, 2 attys and 5 cartridges oh and the charger. The battery life for heavy users like me is about 1.5 hours on a charge. I use the pcc for charging on the go and don't run out of batteries. I would also suggest getting some juice. Start with a flavor you both like and high nic. If it's too high you can always "dilute" it with PG from WalMart. Very easy to do or I would not have been able to do it ;). If you order from cignot today you might even get it by Saturday if not it would be Monday. Hope this helps and you will be so happy to kick the .... habit.

There is pleny of support here on the forum and don't be afraid to ask questions.

Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store.

I would strongly suggest ordering a 510 as well. Easy to use, (after the initial learning curve, of course ;)), good vapor production and throat hit. (That's the feeling you get when inhaling). I would also suggest getting a liquid that has a higher nicotine concentration to start with.

Hope this helps and welcome to the forum! Any questions, just ask!!

Welcome and I understand what you're going through right now. For me, I chose a Joye 510 with manual batteries. It's cheap from www.cignot.com. They only have a few colors now but still it's worth it. It's $35 for the set of 2 manual batteries, 2 atomizers, 5 cartridges filled with Marlboro (I think) and a charger for the batteries. When I got it I was disappointed but I combed the forum and found out I needed to take a lonnnng, sloooow, drag and then inhale. That helped a whole lot. I didn't order any juice which was a mistake but got some quickly. I fooled around with it for about 3 days and that was it! I haven't had a real cigarette since Feb.5th. I smoked for about 28 years, Marlboro Reds at 1 1/2 to 2 packs a day. All of the juices taste differently, depending on the company that makes it. For me, I like Marlboro Red from www.wordupecig.com. I was getting the 36mg of nicotine but have recently bought the 24mg and it's fine. I started out with the 36mg because I didn't want to fail due to not enough nicotine.
Sure hope this helps, oh, and also, I think the shipping is $5 from cignot.
P.S. I've found about 3 drags equals one of a real cigarette. Also, don't wait until you really need a nicotine fix, just smoke it all of the time until it gets easier and it will.

The beauty of ordering higher nic juice is the ability to cut it down. Of course doing so will also cut a bit of flavor. I smoked 1 1/2 packs a day ultra lights (healthier ya know) and I vape different levels at different times of the day. Higher in the AM, lower in the PM. So it's kinda like having to adjust meds when you start a new. I have a lot flavors but have found only vapeing my minty and one other flavor a day satisfies me better than changing flavors more often. Start easy and then you will take off running from there.

Welcome Josie. You might want to start by reading in the ECF Library.
The ECF Library - E-Cigarette Forum

A good place to start is here http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...ping-illustrated-guide-e-cigs-part-1-6-a.html

Sometimes having a friend with the same model can be very helpful for support (and a spare atomizer should you need one in an emergency!). Talk to your friend to see what they like (and don't) about their model.

Once you choose a model, you can find more information and discussion (where you can post questions about the model you decide on and get answers from those that use that same model) here Model Specific Discussion - E-Cigarette Forum

My advice would be to start by using a cigarette shaped e-cig first and then move onto a mod device with better battery life, or have the best of both and get a Janty eGo. I started off a year ago and have built up a collection of e-cigs which I tend to rotate.

Also get a tobacco flavoured juice which is on the higher side to stop you craving real cigs.

I'd recommend going with a PCC kit if you go 510 along with the other suggestions.

For juice nic strength - varies. I'd recommend getting a number of small bottles of different strengths and flavors.

Everyone's taste is different and the nic strength to kill the cravings is also wildly varied even among those who smoked much the same.

Good luck on your journey.

Thanks Hellen for the link, I will check there. I dont really want one that looks like a anolog .. I am hoping that helps make the change for me. What do ya'all mean by pcc? Charging on the pc??

Great suggestions Kessie! what is PG? to dilute?? boy, I feel a little lost here but am a quick learner. :)

I will check the link before ordering today. I am just so sick of smoking and all the crap that comes with it. And, hopefully I can get my daughters to do this too.

ha ha leading by example again, thought I was done with that mommy stuff.... already kicked them all out, here is a suitcase and a ham sandwich.. snort!

If you hover your cursor over the abbrevations like PCC PG VG etc you will get a pop-up that explains the basics.

Like PCC is a Personal Charging Case. Holds stuff & charges a battery at the same time. Great for the 510 with it's small battery to have on freshly charged at all times. You charge the case over night & it will last most folks all day.

There are some out there that closely resemble the taste of an analog, (regular cigarette), and most of us on here thought the same way, get an analog flavor to start with if you'd like. I'd also suggest wordupecig dot com. They're great people and their tobacco flavors are really nice. Not sure which one would taste close to your brand, but you can always ask them online. If you had to wait longer than 30 mins for an email or a phone call, I'd be shocked.

Another REALLY nice 'tobacco' flavor, IMHO, is RY4. It does have a tobacco undertone, but it has a nice caramel/vanilla undertone that's slightly sweet.

If you don't need to have one that looks like an analog, I would STRONGLY recommend purchasing an Ego. They have the same parts as a 510, but the battery lasts anywhere from 8 to 10 hours and it's not one of the HUGE mods out there. I have REALLY small hands and I'm able to use it VERY comfortably. I LOVE mine!!

Hope it helps and GOOD LUCK with your daughters!!

Haz, good call about not purchasing something that looks/feels like a cigarette. The important thing is that the vapor makes you forget about cigarettes.

I think a starter kit with the 510 is the way to go. Make sure you like it and it works for you before looking at Ego and other battery modification models.

I like Cuban Cigar (which is very cigarette like) and RY4 (has a caramel flavor to it and most seem to really like the flavor). Vanilla can be iffy... I'd pass on that one for now?
