anywho, name's jaye, i've been around moderating on a few other chat forums, and lately i've been looking into the e-cig thing thinking that it would be cheaper than my current $100/month addiction.

currently i've only really looked into this company i saw on tv advertising, not sure if i should mention their name here or not, but i'm wanting to learn as much as i can (well as much as a normal smoker would) about e-cigs and other peoples preferences and whatnot.

trying to find the best way to go here and not quite sure which company would be the best bet, or whatever as i have no local head shops or anything close enough to make it justifiable by visiting them about this issue.

and yeah, i'm 29, my wife is 37 (she won't access my account here, but i do occasionally let her know about some of my forum dealings) and we are both looking into e-cigs as an alternative to our current cigarillo addiction

Hi Jaye, Welcome to ECF :)
I suspect you are referring to Blu? Don't worry about naming products, no one will know what your writing about otherwise;)
Discussions go with regard to everything regarding vaping and sometimes more, so go ahead and welcome aboard:)
As far as set ups are concerned some of the more experienced members will be around shortly to advise :)

There is alot of great info in this forum, I have been vaping for 1 month now and absolutely love it! As far as cheaper than your current addiction, I can't say yes. Only because of the new addiction to trying different e-liquids, cartomizers, tanks, devices etc. It can initially be an expensive hobby. BUT, everyone may not be that way. If you were to get you a nice (fair priced) kit, and some e-liquid you were happy with, I guess it could actually save you a large amount of money compared to smoking cigarillos! I would start by looking through some of the stores listed in the Forum Suppliers section, see what catches your eye, and read reviews! Welcome, Good Luck & Happy Vaping! :vapor:

ok cool, wasn't sure if i could name the companies, but yes, it was blu i was referring to earlier, they have some starter sets on their site and wifey and i want to look around at different things before we commit to anything, we don't have a fixed income, but our income is our only means, ya know? so when we pick what we want, we want it to be a long term commitment thing

and i'll probably check this out tommorrow when i hop online, thanks meli, and everyone else reading/replying

oh wow, 2 more replies while i was replying, thanks you guise, imma check those out tommorrow probably

Hey. There are basically 3 categories. The minis, the eGos and the mods. If you wanna give it a try before you commit, then I would recommend getting a Volt kit from Smokeless Image. They perform great for their size and are very well priced.

The next type of kit would be the eGo type kits. I got mine from Volcano and it was a little pricey, but I liked the way they had everything in the kit.

From there, you can delve into the crazy world of mods. It's a huge category so I wouldn't even be bothered by it in your current experience.

My recommendation is definitely the Volt kit and you can see what happens from there. Make sure you get a kit with 2 batteries and some extra juice so you don't run into problems of not having something to vape on.

Regarding the Blus, I wouldn't waste your time. They don't really perform that well and are more expensive than the Volt kit.

Welcome!

I hope this helps.
Have you tried the internet search on the subject of E-Gig.
The way I got more knowledgeable about E-Cigs was to watch many Y-Tube links and read about many brands.
But my most exposure was to view the many websites selling the product.
Then coming to this forum to read about the pros and cons from actual users.

I am very new to e cigs. I got the Volt Pro kit recently. I am very happy. Have I saved money? Not yet. I have spent $76 for my initial investment of a Pro starter kit, 5 extra cartridges [5 come with the kit] and a bottle of e-juice. That gave me two batteries and the PCC that you can take with you to recharge your batteries.

Then, I liked the vaping thing so much I placed a second order within a few days for the bigger battery, some Ry4 cartridges and a bottle of high strength Ry4 refill juice and the pass through cable and a menthol sampler pack.

I realized that I didn't want to run out of e juice so I placed a third order the next day for blank cartos so I can try other juices and the fruity sampler, 5 Country cartos and a bottle of Country refill Liquid and the car adapter. I also got a few of the plastic cases for holding my refills.

There may be a couple of goodies I bought that I forgot to list.

So, I have managed to spend $166 but....the refill liquids are about $15. [very rough estimate]. Even with replacing some cartos and smoking 3 ml a day, $45 or so on e liguid and $20 or so on extras and I will be coming out ahead in the coming months. I smoke about $160 worth a month.

More important, I have felt better since cutting down on smoking by half and can't wait to get my new e juice so that I can continue cutting back. Just cutting back by half is great and I haven't felt deprived. I really think that vaping will replace my current smoking habit given a little time.

I went with the Volt because it felt simple to me and I was feeling overwhelmed by the choices and wanted something that didn't seem hard to use. Also, I wanted something that looked like a cig so I wouldn't stand out. That is just me.

I've been using a Ego VV for over 8 months (blindly, I suppose) .... recently realized it was a copy cat! Don't care as it's kept me off analogs. I'm looking to get a volt based on mr outlaws vid and reviews here. I've had issues with leakage, batteries, burnt taste and I want something easy to lug around with me .... work, running all over creation, etc. and auto for when I don't have a free hand for the button. Comments??

Sitting down, facing forward.
The Volt is a good place to start without question. Good quality and great customer support make it even better. Many people seem to get advised to skip the "mini" stage and go right to the larger batteries and tank systems. If you're looking to stop tobacco maintaining the cigarette style becomes an important feature. It allows the same motions and feel which helps make the conversion much easier. The costs really can't be that easily compared since the health benefits (at least we all assume ther are health benefits) are actually hard to calculate. Whatever you choose in the end, best of luck, it's a journey worth taking!

alrighty-oh

cool guise thanks for the input, i am definitely going to read up more on the volt thing and see where that takes me, basically i'm wanting to start out in the newb territory and then slowly work my way up so i can get a feel for things and all that jazz, maybe someday in the future i'll have the time and money to start looking into customizing, but for now i want to keep things simple and relatively cheap

if its on tv, its probably not the way to go. your money is going toward advertising. anyway, im a major n00b as well. from the advice on here, i just picked up a standard volt starter kit and two additional 5 packs of cartridges. came to $52.97 with free shipping and a coupon code (VoltSave). all in all i got (2) batteries, (15) cartridges, (1) usb charger, (1) wall adapter. it would have been $44.95 + $8.95 + 8.95 + shipping but its free shipping over $55 and 16% off with the coupon code. i dont have it yet but the consensus on here is that volt is the way to go, esp for cig-style ones.

also, if you get the volt, get the 78mm battery rather than 65mm battery for longer life. its usually a buck more per stick but well worth it. i was able to somehow get it for free. the black battery with purple led was the only long one that didn't cost more. not sure if it was a glitch or theyre trying to get rid of them. either way get the 78mm regardless.

I wont say anything bad about Blu,as they did get me thru the 1st step. However, keep the RMA that comes with it so that you can return it for a full refund (if needed). You have 30 days from the date of shiping to get a refund...I got both kits I ordered refunded without a hitch...the product didnt work well for me & my son..but it was a great steping off point, and they did stand behind the 30 day return policy....:)

yeah, i'm looking at their starter kits now, just can't decide which one to go with though, and i was already planning on getting the 78mm's mainly because it looks like they last longer (320mAh compared to 220mAh)

quick question for everyone though, do your batteries last all day before the need to recharge appears, or do they last a week or what? and when you charge them do you have a spare one to use meantime?

and i have absolutely no clue what type of flavor cartridges i should look into, i was thinking the smooth variety pack, oh and what nicotine percentage should i get?

currently i smoke these cigarillos called cheyenne, i smoke the 100's that are cherry flavored, here's a pic-

they're kinda like cigarillos, except they have a cigarette filter at the end, they look exactly like this-
