Definately buy some bottles of juice. Get some with 24 mg and some with like 18 or so. But yes, I agree with the above posters in that you need a pv with more "balls". Something like the Silver Bullet is huge compared to what you're using, but for the money I think it's still the best true 3.7 volt device out there. Most people would probably tell me not to recommend such a big step up in price (or size for that matter) for a newcomer but if you combine a silver bullet with some 1.7 or 2 ohm cartomizers, you're gonna have a MUCH better experience, and there's no disputing that. I always tell people that they'll end up with a big-battery device eventually, and if you stick with vaping, you will. Save the cash trying out the various "disposable battery" type kits, and just jump in. A silver bullet, charger, and 2 18650 batteries might set you back 120 bucks or so, but then all you spend money on from there on is juice and cartomizers. Maybe replace the batteries once a year. That's it. And you'll have all the throat hit and satisfaction you want.

I love the silver bullet, but there's a lot of other great choices out there. This is just my opinion, but I have a number of big batt mods now and I wished I had just stepped up to these years ago, instead of messing with KR808s, 510s, and Egos.

Thanks for replying, you sound like you know 'the bizz' but I really am just starting out and don't understand any terminology or equipment refs right now - I have seen pics of huge vap devices and I'm guessing that's where the experienced vaper ends up - thanks for your post i will do some googling:)

If you are looking to switch to vaping, the first thing you need to realize is that it's often not a matter of finding the right setup and then just start vaping and forget about smoking. Some people for whatever reason do this. It sure as hell wasn't like that for me though. Switching was definitely an ordeal for me, as it is for many people.

People tend to grossly overestimate the importance of the right hardware, although preferably you aren't using junk and will have the means to alter the voltage to suit your own preferences. I wouldn't even bother with anything that's fixed voltage, as this is something that can matter, where you might want to turn it either up or down.

Something like the eg-c twist is a cheap and easy to use PV which accepts any 510 connection, which includes all sorts of different devices.

Most people choose higher voltages, but for me I need to turn it down not up. It does take a fair bit of experience to work this out for yourself, and what you really need to do is focus on how you feel more than things like throat hit or even taste. Vaping is irritating and if you are too irritated you won't feel as good. Having said that though when you're looking to switch you should consider vaping at hotter than you normally would to ensure the nic is atomized.

People will tell you to get some 24 mg juice and speak of this as it's like the upper range, where it's really mid range. Maybe 24 mg will be enough for you. Maybe it won't. It sure as hell wasn't for me. I vaped 30 mg for over a year and couldn't quit, and one day I thought maybe it was because I wasn't getting enough nic to get through the withdrawal.

It turned out I was right, and I upped it to 36 mg and vaped that for a month and then was able to cut back down to 30 comfortably. I tried 24 mg a couple times and if I had to vape that or smoke I'd be smoking again, even though I completely conquered quitting quite some time ago and haven't had any urge whatsoever to smoke for a long time. That's because I get enough nicotine. Whatever level you need, I can't emphasize though how important it is to get ENOUGH.

The final piece of the puzzle for me was WTA juice, and if you have everything else in place and you still crave to smoke then this is the answer. Any vaper that craves a cigarette whatsoever should consider this in fact. Nicotine is just one of the alkaloids in tobacco that we crave, and there are several more, including ones that calm us down and ones that improve our mood. So without these, even at 36 mg, you can still feel tense and feeling down. This is the big reason why people fail, because they want that calming and mood enhancing effects of the other alkaloids.

For the first month after I quit, staying off smoking was in real doubt, and I knew I needed something else besides nicotine. In fact the vaping itself was making me feel tense, which is normal actually, but the heavier I vaped the tenser I got. After my first vape of WTA though it took all of this away. So that's something you want to consider if you end up struggling at all.

Best of luck and in the end it's a matter of how much will power you have, which is the final piece of the puzzle and determines more than anything if you make it or not. However, what you need to realize is that in the end you don't need to give anything up and in fact should be feeling better than you did when you smoked and should never want to ever go back to it, if you get your act together that is and choose well.

I love the ego batteries! I have over half a dozen of them, including the twist. I also have the Provari, and the Provari mini. I have a silver bullet and vmax. I like the Provari the best, but the egos are great for taking out for the day. They are small and you can get them in different colors. The silver bullet cannot adjust voltage unless you modify. I wish you the best.
Also, a good juice makes a big difference.

hi Jane,

I also agree with suggesting you look into the WTA juices, I don't use them but for many people that seems to make a big difference fro them when they are starting out.

Also make sure you are drinking enough water, that will play a role in how well the e-cigs do for you.

I also agree with the kgo or ego suggestions. They will be a big improvement over what you are currently using, plus they will give you a lot of room to try different things til you find what will work for you.

Janie If you are looking to replace cigs with vaping especially at such a low nic level it will be tough. You are like most of us use to the the feel and sensation of a cigarette very light in feel smokes for a predetermined amount of time etc. The vaping devices are much different but also can be satisfying. The flavors alone can keep you busy for weeks if not months. You can do this you just need the right product and as far as support you have come to the right place.

Ya know, this is 100 percent right in my opinion. You're "vaping" not smoking and i had to tell my self that. I had to tell myself "ok i'm not "smoking" i'm vaping and the two are two different things" If you're wanting to quit smoking, vaping can definitey help. You can replace one for another. Using a higher nicotine juice will definitely help, i'm sure. I started with 24mg juices and higher but after i did make that switch i had to start using lower nic juices because i'd get head aches. I did, i had to tell myself "i'm not smoking, i'm vaping, i like to smoke but i know it's bad for me and i really need to quit. I don't wanna quit so i'll vape" .....but's it's definitely two totally different things. BTW i haven't had a smoke since the third day i started vaping. It was the coffee that got me. Those first two days i HAD to have a cig with my coffee. Cut down on the coffee then after a few weeks i started drinking coffee again and it didn't bother me

Hi Scottibones I'm really unsure of the nic levels I'm getting, I usually smoke Silk Cut ultra lows 1mg ( even my friends refuse them, saying they are 'Athletes cigarettes' or 'cheek suckers' so I have falsely believed I am easily satisfied on nicotine content and throat hit - but the e cigs I've tried haven't really hit the mark. As you say, I'm sure I can get there if I keep trying.....I'm just a bit lost and naive at the moment.

It is really hard to equate the nic level in PVs to cigarettes. I smoke American Spirit Ultra Lights. And I have been smoking ultra-lights of one brand or another for many years. One site I have used suggested this was at the 6mg level.

However, my wife and I have settled on 12mg juice. This is working well for us. I do tend to chain vape at times but no headaches at 12mg and no noticeable nervous energy, sleeping issues, etc. so I think this is right for us.

The other thing you need to realize is that the mouth absorbs nic faster and better (more efficiently) than the lungs do. Try to hold the vapor in your mouth longer before inhaling. A couple of extra seconds helped us.

Also, the nic from vapor does not seem to effect us as quickly as the nic in cigarette smoke. We found that we needed to anticipate the need for nic. In other words, we vape before we get a craving. It has become more of a scheduled enjoyment of a good vape as opposed to waiting for signals from our body.

We still smoke! And have no plans to set a date to stop at this time. What I can say though is that in 4 weeks of vaping I have only smoked 6-7 packs of cigs instead of the 4 cartons that I would have! I feel much better and enjoy the flavors and the reduction of ashtray smell in my clothes, etc.

Take your time, do your homework and find what is going to be enjoyable for you. You will assure for yourself a long lasting benefit this way.

Enjoy!
