Complete utter noob - please help me decide

Hi everyone, I discovered e-cigs literally a few hours ago and have been doing a little bit of research. As you can imagine, I'm overwhelmed. There's a whole new lingo to learn and a steep learning curve. But I guess that's also the fun part of it.

Anyway, I'd like to try an e-cig for the first time. I'd like something that mimics the look and feel of an old school cigarette. It doesn't necessarily have to have an LED at the end of it that lights up, but I would like something that I can hold and consume in a similar way to cigarettes. I'd also like as much vapour and taste as possible, of course. Something with a bit of a kick.

I'm based in the UK and I've found some interesting products:

Are any of these particularly good in terms of similarity to a cigarette, vapour and taste?

Or alternatively, can anyone recommend a kit I should start with?

Basically, I need help finding my first e-cig and I'm extremely appreciative for any help. Thanks!

Looks like the KR808 might be the best bet for me... would you agree?

If so, can someone please share the best source for one of these?

I am new too, and just got my KR808 (from VaporNine.com at a great price) and I LOVE it.

Personally I would stay away from a slim ecig(one that looks like a cig) bc the battery life is very short and they limit what you can use. You will need to charge your batteries very frequently and will only be able to use standard resistance attys and cartos. A bigger battery PV will have a LOT better battery like and give you alot more options of what you can use, plus you could get one for the same price or even cheaper than most slim ecigs. The kGo, E-Power, and Riva are all very afforadble 3.7V PVs that have awesome battery life and give a great vape. The eGo is also a popular bigger battery PV that works well, but it is only 3.3-3.4V and I prefer the 3.7V PVs.
If you really insist on it looking like a cig, then Id get the Volt from SI, a halo g6, Bloog, or one from Vapor4life. They are really the only slim ecigs that arnt ridiculously overpriced and they do work okay, but again even with the best slim ecig, youll need to recharge the batteries every few hours and use only standard resistance attys/carto

For a first time and simple kit, I would suggest eGo/Riva type kit. Easy to use, great flavor, throat hit, etc. My first kit was a plain old 650mah eGo (I would go with a 900mah or larger now), and after I purchased it, I never touched an analog again. The only issue you may have is the size, they are closer to cigar size, than analog size. I was a bit worried that I wouldn't like anything that big at first too, but it was a quick and easy adjustment.

Another "bonus" for the eGo/Riva is parts and pieces, there are a zillion different options you can try easily and inexpensively, and these parts are available through most suppliers making them easy to find.

A friend of mine just purchased a Riva kit from Sweet-Vapes. It is a nice starter and good price. Madvapes has a TON of great options too.

I'm sure you will get a lot of suggestions, my advice is do your homework, try to pick something you will be happy with and won't have to upgrade in 2 weeks. Good luck!

Thanks guys. This would be for a very light smoker, as in a few cigarettes at the pub with a beer. Once a week tops. Usually filtered rollies or light filtered cigarettes. Thanks!

I would start with a disposable to see if its something for you. And honestly I thought the same as you wanting a cigarette style and ended up wasting money on one of those starter kits that look like a cig. I was a pack a day smoker and I was constantly charging and changing out batteries. So I switched to a 1000mah battery and never been happier. Those things last me a day in a half before needing a charge. If you were a light smoker go with the small batteries. Otherwise I would choose a 650-1000mah battery.

Honestly, I would say don't vape at all and quite smoking now before the habit gets harder to break.

Otherwise, one of the disposable e-cigarettes may suit you best for now, or a Vapor King KR808D.

Thanks yzer. It shouldn't be a problem after 40 years or so of doing that... The idea of puffing away for an hour or so on vapour rather than smoke and not stink up the place is attractive though.

OK, you seem to have things well at hand. Look into those KR808s. Good ales taste a lot better with vaping than with smoking.

...from what you describe as your smoking habits, I would recommend a KR-808-D1 model such as the Volt from SmokelessImage or the VaporKing from V4L or similar, that may be available to you over across the pond.......

I would suggest the Volt from Smokeless Image. If you do a search on YouTube for SteelJan, she would agree. Good luck with your search. Also, I had to tell my brain "you are no longer a smoker, but a vaper." The quitting of cigs was almost accidental. Yes, not quite 2 weeks yet for me, but trust me..... that is a lifetime for me. lol I will never pick up another analog again.

Hi vapirooster, I just switched over to e-cigs myself two days ago. After doing hours of research, I decided to go with an eGo starter kit and so far I am loving it. Seeing though how you are a very light smoker, the KR808 may suit your needs the best. As far as a vendor in the UK, I have no idea since I live in the states. I wish you the best of luck and please let us know how it all works out for you

Thanks everyone. E-cigs seem to have all sorts of brand names over here and though they're probably the same as in the US it's hard to tell what is what. I do find a lot of brands with the 510 designation, which I assume is the eGo... So maybe I should just go with one of those. I'm just not having any luck finding any brand that sounds like it's the UK version of the KR808...

If you are going to get a slim style, keep to the KR808d-1s. Many stick to them for a long time as opposed to 510 slim users who quickly upgrade. They just provide a little more power and get highly reccommended as a slim option. Rivas/Kgos/ego types are great options for those of us who vape daily.

Like many ex-smokers, I thought it would be easier to switch with an e-cig that look like a real one. I got a KR808-type, in fact a set like this

It has two batteries and serves as a portable charger, so you can vape with one and charge the other. You can also fill the cartos with different e-liquids and change your taste in a second. The battery lasts for 2 or 3 hours of vaping, but needs 4 hours to charge. That was the reason I've moved to bigger size e-cigs with bigger batteries.
But in your case I thing that there's no such problem.
My wife who was a light smoker, is very happy with this.

Unfortunately I can't help you find a supplier in the UK.

Indeed, EVERYTHING tastes better when you've quit smoking (as long as it tasted good in the first place!).
