Ok so I was absolutely excited about this product before hand and after looking it up, going over the data sheets and then reading the heat cleaning procedure to try it out myself I began to worry that these wicks are being cleaned in a kiln and not using a heat treat furnace with a decent controller and exhaust hood. It appears that the temperature should progress 300 degree C every hour, once desired temperature is achieved, and at a stable temperature never going below 700 C, for a certain period of time depending on the quantity of the product. So really my concern was what is happening if these wicks are being heat cleaned in your ordinary kiln that typically does not exhaust these chemicals properly or has no exhaust ventilation at all. Is there a way to test this out besides trying the wick out and hoping you don't get carbon monoxide poisoning? It may be a bit of an extreme but it could make for some good information. I wanted to get more specific instruction from the distributor or even manufacturer for proper, fool proof heat cleaning procedures. This more or less came about after I was discussing the idea of using a heat treat furnace that I could use for a few hours at a local lab. My father being a retired PhD chemist and unfamiliar with the material (also works with any product where heat transfer is involved, thermal interface materials and phase change materials and procedures) and showed quite a bit of concern. I'm a curious person and I would honestly like to bake my own as no one has some for sale, I figured with this stuff 25 feet would last me a lifetime. Thanks!
