Hi my name is Hash

I am new to forum posting however I have been forum stalking for over a year now. For some reason I just did not want to commit myself to posting as I know it can be very addictive. Looking through the forum alone has been addictive itself. But the use of ecigs has helped me quit for over a year now and I feel the need to start posting at this point.

Anyways, I have used a few different passthrus from the basic 510 pass at 3.7v to the BB passthru, and the protege passthru. The last two passthrus are my favourites.

The main problem I have is that when I use them I feel as though electricity is running through my hand. And then when I touch somebody I feel it buzz as I touch them. I wanted to know if this was safe. In any case, I have put a plastic wrap over the metal parts and use a plastic tip with it to prevent this.

This does help but now my passthrus look kind of weird with this wrap on them? Anyone has any suggestions>

Thanks.

If this is happening with more than one pass through then it is not the PT, it is something in your computer. My son builds computers and I just checked with him. If it is happening with all PTs, especially if you are using a front USB port, there is a wire that is not grounded properly. Stop using the USB port immediately and have your computer looked at.

yeppers. I to used to build computers. Also there is not normally a ground wire.. I bet your power supply is either malfunctioning or you have to strong a PS for your motherboard and your motherboard is giving off a charge through the wires. I would tend to bet its something with your PS or power cable.

No, I have not expreienced it with any other electrical device. I will try the electrical tester. However, my theory is that since the PT devices are made out of metal and are not grounded within the device the outer body conducts some electricity. I am surprised no one else has experienced this because I have experienced it with all my PTs. But perhaps the wall outlets do not ground the electricity.

I have been using PT's for 6 months and have never felt anything, but then again I worked with electricity and got enough really good shocks so that now I only feel a really good jolt.8-o:D

hmm thats very interesting. If it was just by USB ok. if just by outlet adapter, ok. but same thing with several different PT and usb as well as outlet adapter. It would not be related to the Power supply of the computer if it is occurring with the outlet as well. I would make sure your wall outlets are connected properly, if they are it would be time to chase it back to the main box. sounds like there is something that is not ground properly. Of course since you do not experience this same problem with any other device that may not be it either.

Ive had this lol -I use a USB/AC adapter btw NOT my PC ports - I think hte grounding idea might have merit HOWEVER I have to add that I'm a static electricity hoarder and always have been. I can get shocks off cars, in shops off shelving, pretty much everything, inc other people.
Not all my PTs have done this - its seems to be the in-line battery ones I get an issue with (and not all the ones Ive used either) but now n again yeah - can't say it bothers me though - kind of used to it from my life in general with static :)

Jumper cables?? LOL

No very rarely the computer because it is advised by the manufacturers that you use an external usb hub or a Power pack due to the possibility of a short that could harm your PC if it occurs. That is what they say but I have never had any trouble with the PT shorting out in my comp however I don't use it thru the PC often at all.

I would tend to be suspicious of the wiring in the building where you use the passthru (your home?).

For the utmost in safety conscious vaping I would like to see a passthru that runs off of potatoes (just like in science class). Imagine the convenience of not needing to carry extra batts and/or PCC, everywhere you go. And not being tethered to a computer. Just your favorite PT, a bottle of juice, and a couple of 10 lb. bags of potatoes!
