Kushka, can you help me with why would you go with the manual? I don't know much about their differences besides the obvious, push a button or don't. Trying to make an informed decision since my first one pooped out on me in 2 days!

It is like deback stated - even if you just use cartomizers and never dipped - you will sometimes overfill them a bit. If you are not very careful to be sure that never happens a drop of e-juice can get down inside an automatic battery and kill it. I have killed 2 passthroughs and one battery that way. I love automatics because I have arthritis in my hands.
I just got a new automatic today (after killing one) and I am careful - but not careful enough. So I also have manuals and use them on my good days - and even on bad days I try to take the first few hits from a full cartomizer on a manual before switching to an automatic

Juice will leak into the threaded ends of the battery, even when you're careful and don't overfill the cartomizer. I'm always having to use a q-tip and tissue to wipe off black stuff and liquid from the end of batteries, even when I know for sure I didn't overfill the carto. I believe small amounts of juice will be brought up into the battery threaded end when vaping.

There's also a passthrough through Jantyworld you might be interested in. It is pretty sturdy and has a 5-foot cord. It is a vape 'n go. IOW, you vape it like a passthrough while it is charging a battery. Once the batt is charged, you unscrew it, and then you have a fully charged eGO battery to vape on for several hours. It also has a 3-month warranty. Here's the link if you're interested.

And here's an ECF review of it.

Good Prophets has the eGo passthrough for $27.99, with free shipping if orders are over $30.

These are great if you want to try an ego - Liberty Flights has them for only $20.79 with $2.99 priority shipping with ecf discount code. They also give a 6 month warranty on their egos. You can also get a 501/901 adapter which is just a little 1/2 inch piece of metal with different threads that will allow for a kr808D-1 cartomizer to fit on to a 510 or ego battery

I knew someone had them cheaper, but I couldn't remember where. Thanks for the reminder, because I might be getting two eGo PTs in the near future. I was at Liberty Flights site earlier tonight but didn't see them. I must have missed it....I was actually going around looking for adapters. I think Good Prophets had adapters for .99 each and some places had them for about $3 and some places had them for around $7, so I decided to wait until I need to order something again before getting the 510 to 808/901 and 808/901 to 510 adapters. I'd like to have two of each in the future, since I'm using both 510s and 808s now, but wanted some time to find out which ones are the best quality. If the 99 cent adapters are cheap and won't work well, I'd rather spend $7.

Cool, just checked back for the first time today and tons of great info to look into. I only have the 808 D-1 right now so I'd need one that would work with my cartos or an adapter, though I am now considering purchasing another type in addition to mine. This stuff might get pricey as I'm one of those folks that need to know what others are raving about and why. Oh well, still cheaper than analogs! On the manual ones, I'll have to look into that because while I don't think I've ever overfilled my cartos to where they will leak into the battery (after filling them I let them sit a while on a napkin just to make sure they aren't leaking) but the ends of my batteries do get kind of rugged looking after a while, need to be shined, so I'm guessing its still getting on the battery somehow.

Kushka, thanks for telling me about the code, I had no idea. Does it only work on that site or are there some others, too?

A lot of e-cig places have discount codes - some good for a few days sales - some for months. It is good to get on mailing list for different stores and check out suppliers forums. Before I order from a place I all ways google "storexxx codes" and see what pops up - some people have put together a list of codes here:

Cigtechs has a KR808-D1 pass thru for $12.95. Looks like it has a nice long cord and a manual button. They also have a KR808-D1 Mobile kit which includes the PT, a car adapter, and a 5 pack of flavored cartridges for $19. That way you could use your existing equipment. Hope you find something you like.

Ahhh, yes I had my PT plugged into a USB on the front of my computer and it wouldn't work, then I plugged it into a USB on the back of the 'puter and it did work, a little; evidently they put out different amounts of power? But after it quit, it quit, no matter where I plugged it in. I've accepted that my 'puter is a weenie but the "shared" household computer is an ox and the PT didn't work in there, either....plus all of our Ipods and Iphones and such work just fine on the USB ports, just not the PT. I'll try a new PT and a "wall wart"?? I'm guessing that's a wall plug with a USB port?? Eeek, sorry I'm still new at all this! I sure appreciate the help.

Dawn, most of the veteran ECF'ers here at ECF don't actually risk frying their motherboard by using their computer's USB port. They buy an adapter for it and plug it into the wall. A few ppl here at ECF have fried their motherboards. You can find threads about it by searching. I can't remember is it was Joker or eJoker (ECF moderators) who fried their motherboard.

Having said that, I will tell you that a few computer geeks here at ECF say that with the newer computer technology, the danger of frying the motherboard is no longer an issue. But not knowing how old your computer is, I thought I would mention it. My computer is about 8 years old, so I use a an USB to AC wall adapter. I just don't want to chance it when the adapters are so inexpensive compared to the loss of photographs, tax returns and workplace notes possibly not yet backed up.

KeeptNitReel, OP is a new vaper, so she may not understand what a vape 'n go is yet. There's just so much to learn, isn't there? Sheesh, I've been vaping for 7 months, and I still don't know what kind of mod I want for a CYA in case of a ban.

As a diehard PT user, here is a tip for how to get a good passthru. Look to make sure that the wire connecting to the battery has some sort of protection. I am sure one of the more technical people will give it a name. I have gone thru several passthrus now since I carry them around everywhere and tug on em all day. I try not to pull by the wire, but I sure I have plenty of times. They stop working when I see I have pulled the wire and exposed it slightly from the battery. I have only found this with the 510 PTs. All of the KR PTs have had a sturdier plastic protection where the wire meets the battery (but I don't buy KR anything anymore - I just use a 510 adapter if needed).

I looked at the madvapes wire connection and it looks like the ones I ultimately destroy. The ones I have destroyed are from gatorvapor and cigtechs. I just consider it wear and tear. I need to find a sturdier PT and am considering buying the Ego PT, or the VP-PT. I prefer the built in battery kind (but I don't know why ;)

BTW when the lights blinks several times and it stops working, I think I have flooded it. If I set it aside for several days, they have all started working for me again until the wire mentioned above comes apart from the battery.

Hope I'm not too late - my experience was exactly the same as yours. Started on April 1 with my SmokeTip (auto KR808D-1) and stopped tobacco immediately. Then moved on to purchasing juices and refilling. Since I vape frequently while at the computer I purchased a kr808 pass-through - did not like being tethered and tossed it in a drawer.

Then, as previously mentioned, Liberty-Flights offered their Electronic Cigarette - Pass-throughs - Joye eGo to which I added an $.99 adapter from http://www.shop.goodprophets.com/product.sc?productId=89 and use my 808 cartomizers on the pass-through. I am very pleased with this configuration.

Hurry, they're selling out fast (all the black are already gone)
