I have an Ego, but I am interested in the passthru for at home use and in case my batteries die. I was wondering, since the atty on an ego is a 510, I should be able to use the passthru right? I was looking at them and noticed they sell 501 passthru batteries. Do I have to have the battery? Also was looking at the car charger with a usb plug, would that work with the passthru for the computer? Also, has anyone had problems using their passthru on the computer?

they actually recomend that you don't use the 5 volt passthru on the computer because it pulls to much power than a regular passthru...madvapes has a AC/USB 2amp plug for almost 10 bucks that's recommended for use with it, as the regular AC/USB that come with the kits to charge battery is only .5 and can't handle the power pull either

RRVaporz has the cheapest 510 passthru's that I have found $11 + coupon code + super cheap shipping...dont know if you would find one cheaper (check the shopping cart to compare)
But honestly I have to agree with the other posters and suggest you go with the 5v passthru. I got mine from madvapes months ago and its still the PV I use when I am at home. It is my first and only 5v PV and by far my favorite because of the voltage difference. Hope this info helps

Not all of us like 5v... I don't.

If you want to get a feel for if you do like 5v, try a Low Resistance atomizer first. They feel pretty similar. I tried an LR, didn't like it. Later tried 5v, and again - didn't like it.

As others said, if you do go for a 5v pass-thru, you will need a 2amp adapter as well. Don't plug it into your computer.

Are you sure your R&R Vaporz passthrough isn't 5V? I got one from there for the same price but mine is.

And I'm with Mistress Nomad on this (and oh, so many other issues). The 5V is not everbody's "sweet spot". I find I can only take it in small doses, and after using it for a couple days steady, I ended up feeling like I'd been 3 pack/day smoking. I now only use it on occasion....if a flavor needs a bump or if a carto/attie is in its final days and it needs a little nudge to get a few extra hours out of it.

Holy Moly I didn't even realize this PT was 5v.....what a steal for that price...I obviously paid too much lol! I just ordered attys/cartomizers from RRvaporz in the past and dont have a single complaint about their products or their customer service!
And you are right SimpleSins a 5v may not be right for everyone - especially for the occasional or light smoker it would most likely be too harsh. I smoked 1-1.5pks of Camel turkish blend cigs and I found that 3.7 with a regular atty was great for the first month or so that I started vaping, but shortly after that I found myself sneaking the nasty analogs more and more often :(...5v saved me from going back to regular cigarettes fully and Low Resistance atomizers saved me alot of cash and allowed me to keep using my 3.7v PVs.
At the same time there are some juices that I will only use on my 5v while I save others exclusively for my lower voltage devices because the flavor changes quite a bit depending on the V.

That i'm sure applies to somebody with a pc whose power supply is not too good...basically somebody with a generic junker.....but if you have a gaming rig with a quality PSU like Seasonic, Corsair, and has 12 volts per rail...you'll be just fine!! No old junky pc's.........If you have a psu with at least 550 Watts, you should be just fine.....I have 700 Watt Seasonic...that thing rocks!!

This is not true I have a 750 watt PSU (Tt True-power) in my gaming rig and the 5v P-T won't work on it at all. Funny thing is it will work on my laptop, but I'm waiting for the 2amp wallplug cause I'm not sure it's getting full power, and I don't wanna take a chance with the laptop I need for school.

PS- I'd recommend if your gonna use a pass-trough on your computer get one with a battery in it they only draw about 300ma

Passthru's are non standard USB devices. Sorry going to get technical here. But a USB 2.0 port can put out 1.5 amps. If the passthrew is not made right it. It wont send the charge signal to the computer to kick the amps on the port to 1.5amps. By default when you plug a devise into a USB 2.0 port it gives you 0.1 amps. Some motherboard makers strickly follow the USB2.0 standard and some change it a bit. Thats why they will work in some computer and not in others like Denrock points out with his two. Even with 1.5 amps it is cutting it close on amps for a 5volt passthru. At 5 volts my regular atomizers pull usually between 1.45 up to 1.65 amps. Most places that sell 5volt passthru's recommend a 2amp powered USB hub or a 2amp USB wall charger. Ok no more tech talk :)

Well I got my 2amp wall-plug from madvapes today, and I was right it definitely seems to have a little more kick now. Vaping at 5v is nice a little warmer, more TH, and more flavor. I don't think this will be an all day use for me though but more of a every once in awhile when I need a stronger hit type thing. I am enjoying it for sure. :)

I for sure like 5volt better but when i smoked i also breathed the smoke into my mouth first then inhaled into my lungs. Seems like it is 50 /50 on that alot of people go directly into their lungs. So when i vape i do it the same way. Tried to go straight in with vaping but i cant get used to it. Kinda wonder if most of the 5 volters smoked or vape the way i do. Should start a poll.

But i got my mad vapes order in today too. So i got this crazy mod i am working on. Should be done in a bit just taking a vape break right now. Will post of some pictures in the mod forum when i am done. That is if i live threw the massive amounts of vaper i will be taking in. lol
