Hi all, firstly great forum! I've been lurking a bit and I've learned quite a lot from just browsing.
On to the subject at hand, I recently bought an e cig (brand name "smokepass") that uses a cartomizer. After the battery wore out, I dissected the cigarette and found that the cartomizer was little more than what appears to be a polyester wick wrapped in an electrical heating element. During use, the element evidently burned the polyester! I'm no doctor but I'd bet money this is not so healthy.
I post for two reasons: one, to raise awareness of this issue and hopefully to warn others away from this brand or cartomizers in general, and two, to ask if there are heating methods that do not pose this problem and which models might use those methods.
Thanks so much in advance!
