I posted a thread on my guilds website (yes I'm a gamer) talking about how Ive made the switch to e-cigs. Gave a basic run down talking about the benfifits ect. To let other smokers in my guild know this is an options.

I got this as one of the replies:

They help a lot, but there's studies out there that e-cigs are causing moist air bubbles against your heart and causing heart problems. Along with brain cancer. But obviously its speculation, but my uncle is having the moist air bubbles against his heart and he switched to e-cigs about 2 years ago. Just for warning those who are trying it out. The stuff that make the atomizers work, is the same thing that is anti-freeze. so beware, I've done tones of research on them, and have a family member in a bad boat right now. Cigarettes are bad for you I know, but e-cigs are causing damage rather quickly.

I don't doubt that his Uncle is having health issues, I doubt the cause is e-cigs. I did my research before I started this too and I came across no such claims.

I want to be respectful in my reply and have some links to provide to rebut these claims.

Does anyone have info on this subject and would be able to help me out with some links to information or general knowledge?

Thank you.

Information? Studies? Reports? Sure here's the library. CASAA Research Library

And while you're looking around the site, I would highly recommend joining.

I'll bet that uncle also was a avid user of CHAIRS. Did you know that every murderer and ...... ever caught was a known CHAIR user? Every single person who ever died in a hospital in the USA for the last 200 years also used CHAIRS! Fight the real fight! Logic is not reasonable for everyone...

There are no studies that suggest ecigs might be associated with ".....moist air bubbles against your heart and causing heart problems. Along with brain cancer.....", otherwise we would certainly have heard of them. In fact those suggestions are so wild they would qualify as he most interesting ever produced. We'd really like to see where they come from.

The antifreeze mentioned (PG) is a common food and medicine ingredient that has been safely breathed for 70 years (it's given to lung transplant patients for example) and has no known serious issues. The fact that industrial grades can be made very cheaply and have a super low freezing point so are useful as cheap, non-toxic antifreeze is not really relevant, except for propaganda purposes.

Basically it's antifreeze safe to drink - which is why it's used. If you can inject it as the carrier for medicines, and breathe it in as the carrier for medicines (even for extremely fragile patients such as lung transplant recipients) it points to how toxic it is: zero.

Ask any doctor about how 'air embolism' inside the body or bloodstream occurs. See:

Air embolism - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Note that there is no instance of it occurring from inhalation.

Whenever the safety nazis want to stop people from doing something - brain cancer is usually at the top of the list. Impotence in men is another, and there's a reason for including those. I suggest not even replying to this person. Just pwn him on the games you're playing
