Hey all, I decided to do a bit of careful cleaning around the electronics in my VVG (noticed juice was leaking out of bottom of delrin cover) and out of curiosity searched up the part # on the voltage regulator. According to the spec sheet it has a max adjustable voltage output of 5.5vdc and 2 amps max output current. So the max voltage output multiplied by the max amp output would be 11 watts max. Or am I missing something here? Or perhaps somehow the wrong regulator was installed in my vvg? Because the 3 amp version would have something around 16.5 watt limit and that seems more true to the advertised specifications. Not that I vape at anywhere over 10 watts, so its really not a huge deal to me. That is unless running the electronics close to their max output would affect longevity.

I know I'm not much help here, but I think that is a question best posed to BuzzKill at NotCigs since it's his chip. I know I'm an electronics dummy. In fact, I doubt that spec sheet is for this chip...but to be honest, I've never opened mine up to look.

Here is what he posted about this back when this all started.

It's definitely the one for whats in mine, all the numbers matched up. I dont mean to stir the pot or call anyone out on anything - I've been happy with my VVG the past month or so I've had it. No complaints here. The printed part # on these chips are very small, I had to use my nerdy magnifier headlamp to read it, it very well could have been a picking mistake made at the electronics supplier. The difference between these chips are miniscule, between 2amp and 6amp probably just a bigger inductor.

It's okay....I am being perfectly blunt when I say I'm dumb when it comes to electronics. So I really have no clue...and I know Rob is otherwise detained at the moment. The best person to ask really is BuzzKill because he's the guy who designed them. So no worries, I never thought you were trying to cause any problems. :)

The MFG spec is 2 amps BUT it will supply 3 amps at 5.5 volts , this has been tested to death ! most MFG under rate devices like this , in fact it can output 6.0 volts if setup to do that. FYI

Thanks for the response, sir. Good to know it's been tested to be a quality component.
