Confused about eGo brands

I'm shopping for an eGo and am confused with the different brands (or manufacturers) out there. For example, at Liberty-flights they have "Joye eGo" kits but VaporKings has "Genuine joyetech eGo" starters. Then I've seen other stuff.

I don't want to end up getting some crap. What is the deal - which should I get and what should I keep my eyes on to avoid? I'll pay a little extra for quality.

WELCOME TO THE ECF

There are ego's and ego knockoffs that are in the market. Some knockoffs are actually better then the ego. Let me explain, the ego can only go up to 3.4V while others like the Riva or Kgo are 3.7V. Well, the KGO actually comes fresh off the charger at 4.2V.

The meaning of that is you will get more warmth and TH from your vape. Can't go wrong with either a Riva or a Kgo:

KGO 1100 mAh 2 battery kit

*The Riva can be found on liberty flights. Don't forget to click on the 20% discount button on the upper left side of the page BEFORE you choose what you want. This will ensure you get the discount.

Only advantage that something like an ego is the ego-t battery which has a 5-click on/off switch. Other then that, it falls short in performance compared to it's competitors.

The Rivas at Liberty Flights are now 3-click ON/OFF. The KGos at Hossiers are 5-click ON/OFF.

And I agree with you on your other points. IMO Riva and KGo are superior to the eGo if you like more TH, vapor, warmth.

Heyas Hex,

Whether it says Genuine joye ego, or Joye ego, it should be the exact same product, if the vendor is reputable. The joye ego is generally very well regarded here on ecf. Liberty flights is one of the most recommended vendors around the ecf, from what i've seen. I've ordered from liberty flights a couple times and found them to be excellent to work with.

Vapor kings is a registered ecf vendor, so I have no doubt they're reputable, but I haven't personally dealt with them before.

Hope this helped answer your question. If any other questions arise, post them. It's all a little overwhelming before you order your first kit and have the actual gear in your hands to play with :p

+1 for the Riva 510 (eGo compatible). I started with the eGo kit and it's a great device. I decided to backup my hardware and after hearing good things about the Riva 510, I ordered a Riva battery. Liberty Flights, either through error or generosity, sent me 2 batts. They deliver a slightly warmer/stronger hit than the eGo and the 3-click shutoff feature is huge. So now my eGo batts are my backups and I use the Riva batts with LR cartos.

Joyetech IS Joye - sometimes shops say Joye (the shortened name) but the real Chinese company name is Joyetech. Both Joye (aka Joyetech) and Janty are real original EGo (Janty calls their something else - Jet or something). Janty was the designer of many 510/Ego things and Joyetech aka Joye is the manufacturer. Anything else you see sold just as "Ego" with no manufacturer listed is probably a clone. Some clones are good quality (like the Eastmall-made Riva 510 and the 3-voltage Ego batteries Gotvapes has) and some are inferior. And that goes for all of the parts too - Joye makes pretty good atomizers and some clones are good and some are crappy. One Ego clone is reverse electrical polarity and has a charger than will fry other Ego batteries. So I always recommend people buy Joye (aka Joyetech) or Janty for Ego and 510 stuff.

Thanks for the replies everybody. I'm living like a robot right now, my life revolves around waiting for my 510 battery to charge. I can't stand it any longer. I figured I could go a few months with the starter I got (Just last week!) but there is no way. That is what I get for trying to be cheap. I was pretty intimidated by it all too. But I don't want to sound like I'm complaining because I'm off cigs for like a week. Hard to put value on that.
