Hi all I'm pretty new to e cigs, I was a pack and a half a day smoker, I got a safe cig kit about 2 weeks ago and quit ciggs that day with some withdrawals but I was determined . I liked the safe cig but there is not very many flavors to choose from and i wanted a better throat hit so I ordered a V2 kit with manual batteries paid 150. Now after finding this sight I am wondering if I got ripped off? It looks like maybe i could have got something cheaper and something that works better. I am going to send both kits back and I am thinking about getting the janty 510 as that seems to be cheaply priced and a lot of peoples favorite but i am wondering if I can get the carts already filled as i don't want to mess with filling my own and if i can get them prefilled how long does a filled cart last? I am hoping it will last about the same as a pack of cigs? sorry for the long post!

The 510 is a good kit.

But if you don't refill carts yourself, you will waste a TON of money. And the way I vape, 510 carts only last 20-30 minutes. I vape a fair amount, but I don't chain vape. Unless you hardly vape at all, you won't get more than an hour out of them. And 510 carts aren't especially small. That's just how carts in general are. They don't last long.

Which means I'd blow through, at a minimum, 30 carts a day, at a dollar a piece. That's more expensive than smoking 4 or 5 packs a day (is that even possible? lol). And that's JUST the carts - that doesn't include spare batteries and atomizers and other things you may need.

Everyone claims a cart lasts "a pack of cigs." It's a lie. Every time. Always. The only exception are cartomizers that hold 2ml. That may be what you want if you don't want to mess with them much, but even those you have to fill yourself.

Also... they just don't taste good. A pre-filled cart with GOOD juice in it is a rare bird. You're going to have the same experience you did with the taste of Safe Cig.

You're going to waste a lot of money, and not have a very good experience taste-wise, if you only use pre-filled carts.

welcome..
sorry to hear that your first experience with e-cigs is a little bumpy.. I dont own any of the ones you mentioned so I cant comment on them. though I have read many positive things about the Janty. I personally use vapor4life's kr808 and I'm very pleased with it. try reading up on some reviews of other brand for there is A LOT of different kinds. for me, a filled carto will last about a pack.. give or take how often I hit it.. If u wanna save money I would highly recommend refilling it yourself.. in the long run just buying prefilled carts is kind of a waste.. good luck

Go with the 510 or eGo. Don't used prefilled carts. They are a waste of money and your tastebuds. With any kit you choose to buy, get blank (empty) carts, a bottle of juice, and fill yourself. That is the only way you will save. A good vendor for flavors is vaporrenu. I've used them and haven't really found one that I don't like. There are a ton of vendors that sell small bottles and sampler packs. Well worth the money and your time to search and shop around. I hope this helps. If in doubt, do a ton of reading on here. Everyone in the vaping community is willing to help. I just got my daughter's best friend to finally purchase the Joye 510 last night. Happy Vaping.

The other thing to consider, even at this early stage, is jettisoning cartridges altogether and instead dripping directly on the atomizer. (Search the forum on "dripping" or "direct dripping.") In my first few months of vaping, I struggled with the difficulties of keeping the cartridge consistently delivering juice to the atomizer--not going dry and not leaking or flooding. Lots of people do make it work, sometimes modifying ("modding") the cartridge filler in a variety of ways. Maybe it's my messy-Marvin tendencies, but nothing worked all that well for me and I ended up using drip tips instead of cartridges, and I haven't looked back. Through the tip's opening, dripping 2-3 (no more) drops onto the atomizer provides more or less the equivalent, in time and drags,. to smoking a cigarette. Flavor and nicotine delivery are as good as with cartridges (better by many accounts), and it becomes a natural technique pretty quickly.

A growing number of juice/hardware vendors sell drip tips pretty cheaply--for example, Cignot.com (a popular source for 510s & eGos--and for good reason!).

+1 on this. Drip on. With that said you will find your personal preference and I do use carts when dripping just isn't practical (i.e driving).

Ok thanks for the replies and info so I think Im going to try the janty 510. If i fill the carts myself how long will they last if I am a pack and a half a day smoker i am wondering how many carts i need to fill for a day

It really depends how you vape. I smoked as much as you do. I vape probably about the same. Some people vape more than they smoked, and others vape less. You won't know until you do it full-time.

For me, a 510 cart lasts 20-30 minutes on an average day.

Here's a few things you can try, if carts seem like too much trouble.

1. If you want to use carts while out, the best approach to me is to take 2 or 3 that you filled earlier, plus a small bottle of juice to fill as you go. It's really not such a fuss. Just remove the cart, drip a few drops in, and pop it back on. Takes a few seconds.

2. As others suggested, you can also drip. 2-3 drops right on the atomizer lasts about 10 puffs - similar to how long a cig lasts. So think of dripping as the replacement for taking out a cig and lighting it. You will want a drip tip for this. The drip tip replaces the cart, so you stick the drip tip right in the atomizer. You can find them here: Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store.

3. Or, if you are willing to spend more time filling in order to fill less often, you can try cartomizers. Cartomizers are one piece, which is an atty and cart combined. With these, you remove the cap, and drip onto the filler. They take longer to fill, but they last a lot longer too - I get a good 3 hours out of a cartomizer. So, fill 3, and you're set for a full day out. Standard filler cartomizers can be found here: 510 CARTOMIZERS

There are 2ml XL CE2 cartomizers. These are even more of a pain to fill. They require a very small syringe. But... they last ALL day. Found here: Cartomizers

So, pro's and con's.

HI!

Usually people will have one or two carts that they are currently working on. The problem with carts is that it seems like you are constantly having to top them off every 10-15 minutes; that means take the cart off, drip a couple of drops of juice inside, squish the cart filler around, put a couple more drops in, fluff up the filler, top off with juice, dab with a paper towel, put the cart back on and vape for ten minutes. Repeat. YouTube - How to refill Joye 510 Cartridge by ecigexpress.com

That's why so many people end up just using a drip tip or cartomizers. Cartomizers are pretty easy; fill 6 of them the night before and you are good to go the next morning. demo: YouTube - Refill Ecig Cartos Quick and Easy (CCFM)

I use cartomizers when I'm in the car or lounging around in bed, but the rest of the day I just use a drip tip -- they are a lot easier than I thought they'd be and super-inexpensive ($2) for people on a budget. IMO they're way easier to use than carts:
YouTube - eCig Review - Totally Wicked Nylon Drip Tip for Direct Dripping e cig Cigarette ecigs Demonstration

In order of least expensive to use and maintain to most expensive IMO:

*drip tip
*carts
*cartomizers

Good Luck!

I was a 1.5 PAD smoker... when I used carts, I think I prolly went through about 6 or 7. Depends on your vaping style, strength of juice, etc. If you go the cart route, get 3 x 5-packs of blank ones, that should last you until your next order (when you'll have a better idea of what you like). Throw on a drip tip, they're cheap. If you've got the $$$, maybe a pack of cartomizers too, just to try them out.

Erin,

I'm on day 3 of vaping and I highly recommend the 'drip' method too! I didn't want to deal with carts and cartomizers because it was an extra expense and went right to dripping from day one. I really love it.

It gives my hands a lil routine before I puff. I carry a 6ml bottle with a squirt top and put in 2 drops of liquid every 10 puffs. It's as easy as can be and the flavor and vapor are wonderful:) The empty 6 ml bottles have a squirt top and are 39 cents a piece. I ordered 5 because I bought 5 flavors to try. Please experiment with the flavors! It is VERY IMPORTANT for you to find a flavor you love. I ordered 5 and really love one- Cotton Candy- the best so that is what I am smoking all day:) I just ordered five more to try: Banana bread, Toasted Marshmallow, Butter Pecan, Creamy Coconut and Rootbeer Float. I think my OCD is showing LOL! That's okay. It's better to be addicted to buying flavorings than to be buying real cigs:)

I'm vaping about 2 ml a day ( that's the average here) so you could order a bunch of 3 or 5ml bottles to experiment with.

And I love my Joye 510 Ecig! White with a blue light, baby:) Looks cooler than heck- all sci-fi'ish:)

Good luck Erin and please don't give up! People here will give you all the help/advice you need.

My cartomizers (Boge 510 and even the eGo Mega cartos) last about an hour, if I vape them almost dry. I refill them all the time and add about 3/4mL to each (more like topping off). They last nowhere close to a pack of cigs, except I chain vape a lot, so I might take a lot of drags in that hour, compared to three cigarettes an hour (when I used to smoke). Even when I don't chain vape, it seems like a refilled carto lasts about an hour. I usually have 10 to 12 to refill every day, and sometimes, more than that.

Those aren't the kind I'm talking about. Boge's, and all other cartos in that style, hold about .6 to .7ml, but don't vape dry.

Joye makes eGo Mega cartomizers don't vape dry since they have filler, though I'm quite surprised you only get an hour - are those the Joye's? The Joye eGo Mega's hold 2ml.

The CE2 XL's also hold 2ml but you can vape them nearly dry, with a bit of finesse. Those last a LOT longer. I can go pretty much all day on a full XL CE2.

The Boge 510s I use hold about 1.5mL when they're new and empty. I just filled a new one, and it took 40 drops (some were smaller drops from the pre-filled liquids compared to the larger drops from the Glycerin bottle, but it took almost two tall condomfuls, which was at least 1.5mL). No, I don't vape them completely dry. They'd probably last another 15 to 30 minutes if I did that. When refilling, they take about .75mL, give or take a little.

The Joye (yes, the Joye brand) eGo Megas supposedly hold 2mL, but when I refill them, I can only put in about 3/4 to 1mL before it starts seeping out. I vape the Megas until I get the burnt taste, which is sometimes less than an hour. I've been frustrated with them, because I know there's more liquid in them when I get the burnt taste -- and because topping them off only takes about 3/4mL.

I haven't tried the CE2 XLs yet.
