I am confused about these various e-cigs.

I was thinking about buying an EGO CE8 (made in China) from Bang good, which is also located in China:
Link: 2pcs EGO-CE8 Atomizer Electronic Cigarette 1100mA AU US UK EU - US$18.50

With this particular CE8, you actually get 2 e-cigs (2 batteries + 2 atomizers) along with the charger for $18.50. With this cheap price for 2 e-cigs, it just seems like it would be really of cheap quality.

I am also confused with the description of this item. It says it contains 2 'atomizers', however, I have seen these called 'cartomizers' in other ads on the internet. Is there a difference between an atomizer and a cartomizer?

Another thing that confuses me is the designation 'CE8'. I have also seen a CE8 Clearomizer which is something different. I am thinking that CE8 is not a model number by a certain company, but a number used by various companies that made e-cigs ... Am I right?

I am also thinking that "EGO" is not a manufacturer, but another generic name.?

Anyway, here is the particulars for that EGO CE8 that I was thinking of buying from Bang good in China. I really have no idea what company actually makes this e-cig. Don't even know if it's of good quality?

Any help would be appreciated

All eGo's are absolutely, positively NOT made the same.

You are correct in thinking the "Ego" name is a generic name for the style, and not a specific name brand. The company that introduced the Ego is Joyetech, who IMO make the best Ego ecigs out there.

CE8 is again a form factor designation, not a product belonging to one specific company. In the case of the CE8 it's an attempt to copy the 2.4ml tanks that come on the Halo Triton, but the CE8's are much more prone to leaking.

One thing I've learned over 2 years with ecigs is that you quite often get what you pay for. Cheap, especially unusually cheap ecigs are priced that way for a reason. They're usually garbage. In the long run you're better off spending the extra money and buying a good quality product from the start.

In the Ego style, I would recommend either the Joyetech eGo or the Halo Triton. They'll cost more, but they are definitely worth it.

The Halo is threaded different so there are fewer 3rd party parts for it, but all of Halo's stuff is top of the line in quality so you really won't need to look for 3rd party parts. You won't run into poor fit or leaking clearos from Halo.

Joyetech is the more common 510 thread so there are more 3rd party parts for it, but buyer beware, leaking clearos and carts, poor fit, and broken threads are not uncommon with 510 threaded parts.

I can't speak for Halo ( :) ) but that would not be called a CE8 here in the UK.

CE8 is a wickless metal-tube clearomiser using SS mesh, it's rubbish.

What you have in the picture is a hybrid of an old school Kanger T2 style body with generic CE5 (Vision V3) innards.

Whilst I don't agree with Completely Average about everything, I don't expect it would be very good either.

The Halo Triton tank is a version of Kanger T2.

Actually Janty invented the eGo and other companies (JoyeTech, SLB, Kanger, etc- all large and reputable companies) sold their own version. Originally it was a brand name but has since evolved into a class/ style of PV. eGo voltages- 3.3, 3.7 and variable voltage 3.2- 4.8.

The original CE8 by Bauway featured a stainless steel wick. In the link you provided it looks like a silica wick. Be careful also with some of these clone clearos- some have a spring in them that can force the battery post down.
Here's a review of the original SS CE8:

They are clearomizers. The atomizer is the actual elemental part of the clearomizer that vaporizes the juice. As far as using 510 I've been vaping 510 threading for 2 1/2 yrs and have had no issues. It's usually a problem with new vapers that tighten the clearos/ cartos too much.

Banggood is an OK company. I have ordered many things from them from electronics parts to eGo stuff - including ejuice. Their prices are pretty good. Their quality is in line with their pricing. (So-So) Their shipping to USA is atrocious!

Take a quick look around ebay. Look for eGo starter kits. You will find virtually the same product (as Banggood) from many sellers for only a very few dollars more - and you will have it by this weekend.

The previous technical comments are important. There are reasons to buy just about any atty in the "clear/colored plastic" variety (Ce4-Ce5_Ce?, etc.) Having said that, there are just as many reasons to NOT buy the same thing. It's personal choice based on one's taste, feel, wallet, etc.

What you really want is a unit that delivers vaper to you in a flavor you enjoy. So, start with a low $ unit (or two). Then, as you progress into this hobby, you will see the things that you do want - based on what you have learned to date.

Basically I am saying blow $20 bucks on an eGo kit. Get some ejuice. Start vapeing and learning. Read this forum. Follow a lot of links to see the various pictures. Listen to the experts. Beware of the noobs full of advice. Ask thoughtful questions...

and Enjoy!!

EGO is a threading when it all comes down to it.

SO far I have to agree Joyetech makes the most solid EGO style devices I have come across so far. I have 2 EGO-C batterys and 2 EGO-C Twist batterys that are both Joyetech and are still going strong at near 10 months. The 2 EGO style devices I got from fasttech are clones. One is dead and the other dying at 4 months in.

I really have mixed feelings giving this advice as I don't necessarily think it's a good idea to confuse or overwhelm new vapors...but for about $10 more get a variable voltage (VV) battery. If you like vaping your eventualy going to get one anyway a few months down the road. This allows you to turn up / turn down the "power" of your vape. More/Less vape More/Less throat hit.

Something like the ego twist would even suffice.

Also I see nothing wrong with starting with a super cheap ego/evod type setup at first. I bought a genuine ego starter kit for 70$. Some of the cheap VV ego twist type batteries work just as good if not better than my genuine ego batteries. I think it's because it allows me to "Turn things up or down" While the $70 was not a total waste as I still use them from time to but I think I would have been just as happy if not happier getting something like New Ego C Twist CE5 1100mAh VV Vape Vaporizer Pen Starter Kit Clearomizer | eBay for $5. FYI I don't know seller or that particular type of battery. Most of my cheap stuff I get through fasttech.com but I can't recommend them to new vapor in good conscience due to there extremely long shipping time. You'd still need to buy a topper for that as well as juice.

I guess my point is if your just starting out; I can not in good conscience suggest a $70 genuine ego joytech starter kit as a VV cheap battery will in all honesty be just as good or better because of the VV feature. Sure it may not last as long or be the best thing out there but it will give you an idea if vaping is going to work for you. Take that $50 you would have saved and eventually use it on a MVP2 or a Vamo for your next upgrade. You may even want to upgrade to to a provaria...or something more advanced but for your first starter kit I would not spend more than $50 max. $20-25$ should be enough to get your foot in the door...and if your still here in 6 months you'll be looking at upgrading anway so save the money for something in the future after you get a better understanding of vaping.

yeah, what Bunnykiller said. and I happen to be very content using the ce8 pictured here. I've used my fair share of clearomizers and the ce8 is far from being rubbish IMO. I just got two new ones and the flavor from my vape is fantastic!!! and they last pert near forever
