Hi guys, i am new to vaping, for about 3 weeks and i am confused. I started vaping because i went to almost smoking 2 packs a day in my room/car/work and i just couldn’t bare the smell, my nose was runnin’ wild , no smell, low physical power, and since a month i smoked just 5 packs till this day where i started smoking again :/. So it begins, i went to the vape shop in my country , bought as the seller recommended next items : Captain pd 270 /20700 , tank Aspire cleito exo and tank siren v2 4.5 ml to find out if i am lung or mtl user. 6 Liqua flavors, 2 bases Green Melon (with 2 shots of smok nic ) each and a diy tobacco and a I love cookies Vape Clone , and a e juice potion with cake. For 2-3 weeks of changing Exo coils 0.15, 0.2,0.4 and ss316 siren wires and a Nichrome 80 wires plus a lot of Geek Cotton, i smoked a quarter of all juices and none pleases me , just the Cake with e juice potion and well it pleased because now everything has the taste of ironning a shirt, don’t know why.. it tastes awfull, never got a dry smoke( think so) , i chocked alooot of times in the first week, But now everything is tasteless or i get the feeling there is sugar in the smell or hot water (same the iron does when you iron the laundry) . i have read to not smoke above 4.5 v because of the formaldehyde, i kept all coils under 4.5 v (exo 0.2 / 0.4 at 50w with soft smoke) , siren 9-15w and 2.90-3.8v . It so depressing because i really tried to do something about smoking but in the past few days i can’t make it work, don’t know what happened , on the siren v2 i changed the wick every day/washed the tank and on exo every 2 flavors changed the coils. Help!?

going from smoking to vaping can take some time... yup some people can do it instantly, but most of us need to transition over time. Formaldehyde happens under severe juice burning... you will know instantly when it happens, pretty much the same as lighting the filter on a ciggie. As far as the "ironning" flavor, sounds like cotton wick not being primed well enuf. get that wick really wet before using it. you may be suffering from "Vapers tongue"... the loss of flavor due to constant exposure, same thing happens to the sense of smell too... ever wonder how people can work at a sewer plant and the smell not bother them???

Finding the right juice can take a bit of time. I guess it's possible you've gotten vaper's tongue.

When you say "clean the equipment" what exactly do you do? Sometimes if things aren't cleaned correctly in between, you can kind of get "juice fatigue" where it all builds up in your tank and doesn't taste good. Although if you are doing a good job cleaning, it's also possible it's vaper's tongue and that the one flavor you are tasting is just very strong. I'm not really sure though, as vaper's tongue is usually across the board, but it could still be that, I guess. I'd vape the flavor you taste and maybe get a strong mint/menthol flavor (cinnamon tends to be one that can wake up tasebuds as well). Stay hydrated, drink lots of water, maybe use biotene mouthwash from time to time, some folks will use a tongue scraper to help their tastebuds along, as well as sniffing or even chewing strong flavors like lemon zest and/or coffee (like, suck on a coffee bean or two). Vaping is dehydrating at first, so drinking more water (whether it is vaper's tongue or not) is always useful starting out and will help with detox.

Some folks choose to vape unflavored for a day or two while it passes as it's less disappointing than the "expectation" of flavor and not having it. With that said, I am not 100% convinced it's vaper's tongue, could be something else. But, if you don't have it now, well, you may run across it in the future...

Best of luck figuring it out.

Welcome to ECF Seer. Just normal growing pains from learning how to vape. Quit jumping from coil to coil. Experiment with air flow, af, and wattage to find a sweet spot. Start at low wattage and work your way up a few watts at a time. If you have vaper's tongue a sharp citrus or menthol juice will give some taste until it passes. I think you simply need to slow down and be more patient. Concentrate on getting your vape dialed in.

Agree with Anna with this exception ^^^^^^^(highlighted in red) Vaping doesn't stop being dehydrating. Always drink more liquids. Dehydration can sneak up on you quickly and you may not recognize the symptoms right away. Even seasoned vapers can and do get caught unaware. It happens, nothing to be alarmed about when corrected quickly. Unexplained headache, muscle aches, feeling totally 'not good' , good chance you are dehydrated.

Takes time to find what you like. A ton of people here were able to switch using vape pens with MTL 2ohm coils.

Different people need different things. It wasn't until subohming that I was able too completely switch to vaping, and until the rise of RTAs until I preferred vaping.

You tried a subohm tank and a rebuildable MTL tank. Maybe something like a rebuildable subohm tank might help. I know as far as it goes with flavours, nothing has kept me as satisfied as a RDA/RTA/RDTA with giant coils.

This is what it looks like right now in the room i'm in. Some of us need more to over come our cigarette habits. You just need to find what you need, and sometimes it's very different than what the average starter needs.

i am using primarly the mtl siren because i can’t stand to cleito’s vaping power, 5 puffs and i can’t see the tv from 3 meters. About cleaning, i dissasemble the tank by part , i remove the wick, i dryburn the coil 3-4 times (put it in water) , put all parts under warm water and let it dry for about 1-2 hours . New wick, about 10 drops till the cotton is all wet, a quick fire to be sure it works, put the parts and oil. I found out there are 3 tastes, 1st caramelized wick( i use just the diy tobacco aroma with green mellow base + 2 shots of nik smoke) , the 2nd ironning vapor - i put any juice but they all feel the same , like vaporizing water under hot pressure, 3rd it smells like burning paper, unbreathable and all conditions had the wick oversaturated and chaning nichrome/sscoils/cleitocoils. I am trying to find out if the nicsmokshots do this. thx for replying i will come as soon as i find out.

i just used my gf as a test on same juice , she is not a smoker, but she doesn’t taste any juice, just a fade smell. with both atomizers, i use the mod at 16w, 3.31v , 4.0A , 1ohm ss316 siren pre fabricated resistance and 0.4 subohm cleito exo. can the mod break?

Lots of what your hear about how bad vaping is is propaganda, scare tactics to scare the general masses into thinking vaping is bad so they keep on smoking. Many governments and countries are run and paid for using the tobacco leaf, once that leaf is threatened they loose their chit and say whatever works whether its true or not to get that leaf back to what it use to be. Smoking is at a all time low now...no smoking no tax money. Vaping has title waved over the last couple years with thousands and thousands converting every day and no taxes collected so governments do feel the pinch...not pinch anymore but punch.
I spent 2 years and oodles of money wasted on crap commercial juice that I couldn't vape or vape a bit of it then become sick of it. It wasn't until DIY juice that I found the happy place and still happy.

That is partially wrong.....
Vaping the oversweet, overflavored commercial juices I was simply parched 24/7 drinking gallons of water to try to quench that unquenchable thirst. In short the sweetness drys the mouth fooling the brain into thinking your thirsty when your really not like the same effect drinking a coke and being more thirsty after. Not so bad being a young sprout but us old pharts with well aged bladders having to get up every couple hours thru the night to pizz from all the water drank all day is hard on the body or wear a diaper to bed to get a full night sleep...lol.
It took a not very long after I began to DIY juice and not vape any commercial juices at all that my water consumption was slashed down to normal drinking habits, not being parched anymore, don't have to coddle a water bottle like a tit, began to sleep thru the night and not pizz every hour anymore. There is some insomnia also with the oversweet commercial juices but that is a small fraction compared to someone power vaping before bed and being stimulated from the nic.

IT is true that dehydration can be a result of vaping and not drinking enough liquids. So I guess we will just have to agree to disagree.
FOR YOU the above may be true......but it is NOT true for all vapers. Me included. I DIY and have for years and just went through a bout with dehydration over the last several days---because I did not recognize the symptoms. So to say dehydration is a myth is grossly understated.

We all write on our opinions based on our individual experiences. So for you to say this is incorrect does a gross injustice to those whom may be experiencing it and not know what it is and how to counter it.

I have gone to more vaping meet ups than I care to admit and have seen it on a mass scale. So please only report your experience on whether vaping dehydrates YOU. But do not apply it as totally false.

the whole deal with formaldehyde was early in the vape game when independent researchers were trying to run 1.8 ohm Kanger Protank 2 style atomizers that were silica wicked on 20 watt devices cranked to the max. Silica is not good for the human body that's why the little packets that come in your bag of beef jerky treats says do not ingest and has a poisonous hazardous label on it. I have vaped off a 8.4 volt lipo box for over 2 years with a .20 ohm coil which is 353 watts of power which to most would seem extreme but it has not caused any health concerns and I see my Dr. regularly. Most every manufacturer have gone to organic cotton for wicking material so these formaldehyde scares are just that propaganda scare tactics. Major testing has been done by the Royal College of Physicians over in Britain and their official findings have shown to be vaping is 97% healthier than smoking. Use the power on your device to find a sweet spot most of the coils have a a recommended power rating on them so use that to find what will work for you and the other thing is what is your nicotine level because if you are running a high nicotine percentage when you start venturing higher it will overpower the flavor of the juice making it taste like straight sh&*. The other thing you need to consider is that your taste buds are damaged by the tar and chemicals found in cigs so at first your juices may taste bland but give it some time and work through it by testing different flavors until you find something that will work. Cake flavors are very mellow so find some spirited flavors like fireball cinnamon or intense citrus flavors until you find something that really livens your tastebuds up and the longer you are away from smoking the more your buds will improve.
