Hello,

i am new here and planning to change from traditional tobacco based cigarette to e-cigarette.
but i am confused which one to go for.

i see two types on the market

1. a traditional cigarette having an exact shape of e-cigarette (eversmoke.com , skycig.co.uk etc i mean).
2. a pen type is called vapor (which i don't like really as it is not have the shape of traditional cig).

but actually what is the different between this two other than the look and feel?

I started off with cig a likes, nothing wrong with that.
I quickly moved on to ego style though, but if you're just switching then it would be much easier to get used to something that actually looks like a cigarette.
Big difference in vape quality, battery life and choice between the two. With ego style you have more options of toppers and battery life, where as cig a likes are pretty dang limited to the certain brand, with replaceable cartridges that will only last so long and will get pricey in the long run.

You will have to use higher strength nicotine more frequently using a cig-alike compared to a larger device that has the power to deliver more vapor, therefore, more nicotine.

This study done by Dr. Farsalinos tells the tale comparing a cig-alike with a larger, more powerful device using 18 mg juice, Nicotine absorption from electronic cigarettes. Even puffing on a cig-alike for an hour doesn't produce as much nicotine as smoking a cigarette for five minutes.

If you absolutely insist on using a cig-alike the Joye e-Roll is probably the the best of that type. However, I would strongly encourage you to get a larger device as well if you are serious about quitting cigarettes. An Innokin VV 3.0 paired with a mini Kanger Pro Tank isn't terribly large and will allow you to adjust the warmth of your vape which affects taste and vapor production, both which can be important factors in finding a satisfying vape.

I started with Bloog... same thought you're having... I want to quit smoking, I want something that looks like a cig and tastes like a cig!!!

After using them a while, I bought a MVP2. That did it, decades of 2 packs a day, boom, quit in 1 week. It was incredible. I had spent thousands of dollars on perscription Chantix, perscription Nicotrol (these 2 alone cost over $600), nicotine gum, nicotine lozenges, nicotine patches, hypnosis, acupuncture. NOTHING worked. Absolutely nothing. The Bloogs and MVP2 did it. I had so much fun playing with flavors, I was quit in a week.

Bloog is this (pricey, but cheap compared to cigs and quit smoking stuff): Ecigs I Eliquids I Electronic Cigarette | E Cigarette | Bloog

There are WAY cheaper types of the same basic thing as Bloogs, but I was so confused by all the different websites I would never have bought a thing. Bloog's site made sense to me. Good luck!!

I will not use the first one, very expensive and you need to buy their cartridge again and again.

100% Spot on.

In the UK we can buy both. I vape less than 2ml of nicotine liquid a day. (12mg).

In a cigarette-look device, there are two things to point out.
1. 2ml a day could cost as much as £3,000 per year to buy the refills and replacement batteries/chargers. (No, I am not making that up.)
2. I would need to "puff" on a device like this around 400-500 puffs per day to extract the necessary nicotine.

Now, most of these cigarette-looking e-cigs can be refilled.... which saves money... BUT, I'd still need to puff 400-500 times a day.

I "vape" 20 times a day, extract the nicotine and get on with my life. ( and waste most of it on forums.... :) )

1. cig-a-like: Umm, the best analogy is they are the Bunny Slop of vaping.
2. pen style? possibly ego style?: intermediate/entry level vape. Can use changeable coil head atomizers.
3. regulated mods: Now we talking abut he ability to really get Vape. A great place to learn advanced user vape.
4. mechanical mods: Usually for Advanced Vapers. Must know your chit to get the most out of a mech's vape potential
5. High amp regulated mods: Also mostly for advanced vapers. For those that want a regulated vape at 30 watts and higher.

Most people usually never know about 3, 4, & 5 till they find a site like this forum. There is a lot of different was to get your vape on. Most will gravitate to 3, 4 and 5 if they enjoy their vape and plan to continue once one no longer needs to smoke.

I recommend to find what vape has to offer so one can make an informed decision. Check out all the ECF has to offer. Welcome to the forum and good luck with your journey.

Vape long and Prosper!!

Brilliant. :)

25 puffs on an eGo e-cigarette with 36mg liquid. = 5.2mg nicotine before absorption. (Fact - E.C.T.A. Canada 2014.)
130 puffs on "the UKs best e-cigarette" with 16mg liquid = 4.8mg nicotine before absorption. (Extrapolated)

5 times less effective. Up to 10 times more expensive... comparing the amount of liquid per £/$

Don't use those crappy cig-like gadgets !!!
You will dislike them and they will scare you away from vaping.

If you like style (I do) I'd pick something like the Semovar v3 with a Kayfun 3.1 or some beautiful mech mods. Both will require you to read and learn about rebuildable atomizers and ohm's law.

For you first plug n play ecig I'd recommend the eGo. Doesn't look good but does its job without tinkering.

Agree with Peraspera & Glassgal ...

For many people the difference is failure versus success.

Specific thoughts:
  • Vaping gives you lots of control over the experience:
    • amount of throat hit
    • amount of nicotine
    • amount of vapor / cloud production
    • Flavor control!
  • Wide-variety of hardware options - simple ego battery sticks to mid-range 'mods' & apv options and beyond
  • Wide-variety of juice toppers / tanks
  • Far more cost-effective

There is no single "how-to-quit" recipe that works for everyone.

Vaping provides the most flexibility to help you find the combination of battery/topper & flavor / nicotine content that is going to work for you.

Here's the hardware I would suggest checking into:
  • the Kanger mini-ProTank 2 or,
  • Innokin iClear 16
  • Innokin vv3. battery
  • Mid-range price, high levels of power customization (key feature!), minimal complications from leaking/gurgling.

Vendor recommendation: Mt. Baker Vapor . Great juice, great prices, 10% discount codes (try ve10), free juice with >$15 order, FAST shipping.

Good luck & count each cigarette you don't smoke as a part of your success & victory over smoking!

Why on earth would you recommend someone who HAS NOT EVEN TRIED TO QUIT YET and is still smoking go buy a Semovar with a Kayfun?

To use even an Ego, you have to know about juices, you have to know how to setup a basic carto system, and she doesn't even know if she will like it or whether it will work for her. To use a ciga-like type, she unscrews a prefilled cartridge, screws it into the battery and vapes. That's it. If she can tell it will work for her, THEN she can do the Ego or MVP.

As for all the insults, have any of you people even tried a Bloog? I'm a total vape hoarder, I DO have all the important mods and atomizers already. And even now, I can still appreciate using a Bloog. Go for the highest nic content Bloog!!!

I empathize with you. I started with Blu and I did stay with them for a few months. I went to a brick and mortar vape shop because they quit working often and the battery life was very short. I had a hard time going from what looked like a cig to what didn't. Very quickly I got past that because truthfully there is a huge difference in flavor and quality. I would agree if you go this route do the Joye eroll.

What I got that day at the shop was a Kanger Evod starter kit. It worked well for me and I still use the batteries. I now have 6 ecigarette set ups and no concern whatsoever that they look like a cigarette. Early on I remember staff at shops using something that looked like a box in no way resembling a cig and thought, that is really weird looking. Now I have 2 of those boxes and a third on the way and 1 of them is what I vape in public.

Do some looking around on the web at basic starter kits. Look at egos, evods, spinners, the itaste vv vw mentioned above (which I have and enjoy). You can also look at the eroll on several of the same web stores. Then keep asking questions here on ECF, we are always happy to help!

You mistunderstood me. I just mentioned those fine lookings mods only to state that there are stylish ecigs which he can use later on.
My recommendation was the eGo. I know so many vapers who almost went back to smoking because of these cigalike ecigs, then they tried an eGo with some basic clearomizers (not rebuildable) and they put down the nasty analogues.

After reading my response, I realized I sounded upset, and I wasn't, just surprised:). Bloogs are not like Blu's, which are pretty bad. They are actually fairly powerful for a small 808 style... especially with a high nic %. Surprisingly enjoyable for the type.

When trying to quit for the first time, I needed a smoke that reminded me of cigs, having that option made a big difference to me. I would never have even believed I could quit smoking by using an actual PV to start with. I only quit in Oct 2013. My cousin first told me about e-cigs in 2007... all I saw were ego types. I wasn't interested. It took another 5 years before I was even willing to try an e-cig. That's why I suggested the Bloogs, they resemble cigarettes, but they are pretty good.
