Hi everyone.

Looking for general advice.

I'm new to vaping, initially I've been using a standard/basic device. I've now bought a kanger mini pro tank (and replacement atomizers) and I'm using it with my standard size battery (650mAh I think? Might be 1100). It's vaping okayish but not consistently, and it heats up really quickly too. I think I may need a better battery, or would different atomizers improve things (I'd like a better throat hit/taste)? Any tips/advice much appreciated (I don't really want to build stuff myself).

Hi and welcome to the forums :)

What battery are you hooking the mini pro tank to? Is it a Ego style battery?

It's hard to say until we know what battery you are using really - if it's a Ego style then you may have more success with a variable voltage battery. Does your battery give you the option to up the voltage/wattage or is it a "click and go" style?

Different atomizers will offer different resistance, depending on what you go for. I think you should probably upgrade the battery to at least a variable voltage battery which will let you up the voltage to get the desired hit.

Them tanks are good, you shouldn't have any issues with that - I think it's the battery you maybe need to focus on.

Welcome to the forum.

The battery heating up is an issue. I would look into a new one. Look at the ego spinner it's variable voltage and is fairly cheap for a VV. That would be a good start. Your tank should run fine off any battery.

For more throat hit you can go to higher nic or you can go higher voltage. Try with a VV battery first.

Yes doing custom wrapped coils the whole "micro coil" thing provide excellent results. But if you're not careful and know what you're doing you could also cause major malfunctions (battery venting) and this can be quite dangerous so it is not recommended until you have the knowledge and tools to do it correctly.

The Mini Kanger will work on most Ego threads, and most devices I've used so far will accept them (510/ego threads) they are pretty "normal" threads and you should be fine.

As above, I'd go for a new battery personally - anything variable voltage will do. Ego Spinners are great, and will work nice with that Kanger

Thanks for the welcome and replies :)

Yes it's an ego battery I'm using. Will most batteries fit the protank? Also I read a bit earlier about certain coils giving better results?

How long have you used the same coil?

The coils can come in different resistances;
1.8 2.2 2.5
It should be written on the box with the 5 replacement coils.

That's pretty normal if you are vaping a LOT. The coil heats up to burn the liquid so you will notice the tank getting warm if you are vaping pretty heavily. If the battery is not heating up then it's probably a case of letting things cool down a bit.

The battery itself shouldn't heat up though, hence the cause for concern!!

Just looking at VV's, thanks for that advice.
Also, the part which is heating up/becoming warm whilst I'm vaping is the middle section (the bottom of the tank), the part you screw off to put in the liquid. I have a second battery and it is becoming warm whilst using that one too

That is because you are trying to make the battery do more than it is designed to do. You must not be getting a good enough hit to satisify your needs so you keep toking on it. You need a vv or a vv/vw so you can make adjustments. One the link I provided it gives you one battery with a choice of vv or vw. As with all vv/vw you can only be in one or the other, but not both at the same time.

:)

A variable voltage battery will sort this out, for sure. And will let you get "your" vape - what works for you.

Them protanks are good, should do you a while. I just don't think they work well with bog standard ego batteries (although mine work okish when I really need a fix and my batteries are on charge!)

Good to have you on the forums, and here's to many more days/weeks/months to freedom of ciggies! :toast:

Hi Eilidh. Good to have you on the forum.

I've been vaping today with a 650 and mini Protank. If yours is causing trouble, maybe something is not quite right.

Can I ask one thing before anything else? please... Do you know the resistance of your replacement heads. They normally come in 2.5 or 1.8.

On a "plain" battery, the 1.8s WILL get a little hot and the 2.5s might be weak in the vapour department. Also, is your battery a specific brand?

Thanks guys. Definitely going to get a VV. I'm on day 7 of vaping, I haven't had as much as a single puff of a real cig (nor have I wanted a puff) so looks like I'm going to be sticking with it, want to make sure I'm clued up.

I can recommend Vision Spinner or iTaste VV.

Look on paradise vape for iTaste or myepack for Vision Spinner.
