Hi, Im just starting out also, very simple, but wouldnt it make sense to order your nice base and the PG/ VG you like and then just add the flavour? I just ordered from Wizards and got a bottle of nic base in 50/50. I then was going to start adding 5% of my total bottle desired. I figured if I wanted use a 60ml bottle then Id ad 50ml of the 50/50 base and then at 5mls total of what ever flavour/s . Does that make sense or am I making an obvious mistake. I actually figured Id work with 40mls in a 60ml bottle just to give myself a bit of wiggle room in case its either not strong enough or too strong for fine tuning.

Have you read th eDIY stickies? Are you following safety precautions? What strength is your nic base? Do you have a juice calculator?

It is suggested that you start with small batches otherwise you could end up with 60 ml of juice you hate.

Oh thank you for your advise, I have read the stickies. I only use 12mg nic juice from Wizards. I have some of the calculators on my downloads. I make some DIY already, but I make it very simple. The one I make now, is the same thing, 50/50 with 4 drops of organic orange and 1 drop of clove. Its a perfect all day/ taste bud cleaning juice, plus its very clean compared to my bought juices which are NET tobaccos. I can run my atomizer with about 15ml of my DIY and only about 3 ml of my NET tobaccos when I have to dry burn.

Oh good, I just worry that people would be handling nic without precautions but I see you have done your homework:)

I have one thing that I can't seem to find the answer to anywhere. I see people making recipes with percent this and percent that of VG/PG and then they have a nicotine base, but they don't indicate whether or not their nicotine base VG or PG and if they take that into consideration with the percent rate. I do not want to go by drops count because that seems like it can be inaccurate. OCD here! I understand that I will have to experiment in order to figure out what I like. But for example, if I go to Wizard Labs and order a bottle of 24mg nicotine base with 70/30 VG/PG or PG/VG, do I have to dilute that with anything at all if I want an end result of 24mg? Then do I just grab some flavor extracts and put in like 5% to 20% of that? I thank ye in advance for the advice.

I haven't read all the responses so if this is over kill, I apologize.

The only part that really matters to a recipe is the flavor percentages. Nic level, VG/PG ratio etc are fine to discuss but the heart of the recipe is the flavoring.

You seem to want a very precise nic measurement. If that is so, I advise you to stop trying to work it all out on paper and just get the breaktru ejuice me up calculator. It is by far the easiest and most precise tool there is. It will save you a ton of headaches and working out math etc.

It's free.

If you spend about an hour or so understanding each field and what it means, it will pay off huge dividends for you in terms of time savings and you WILL have very accurate amounts.

As for measuring with drops...just don't. Get a few syringes in varying sizes. A 1ml syringe labelled in .1 ml increments is a huge time saver.

yep I got the calculator and the syringes. I'm ready to go as soon as it all arrives. I can't wait! I also did get the pg.vg reason I like for my nic base with the discussion that it will go down after adfing flavors. :)

That is certainly the easiest way to DIY. Bearing in mind that you will not have quite the mg you started with as pointed out by WallyO. If you aren't too picky about the strength, you'll do fine. The most flavoring I have used is 15%. so using the 24mg as an example i would the nend up with 20.4 mg juice:)

By buying it in the pg/vg ratio you already like, you don't have to figure out how to get what you want using an ejuice calculator although, with just a bit of practice, you can use an ejuice calculator with no problems.

Your way is easier and does save you money over buying premade juice.

Has anyone ever experimented with making their own flavor extract? I'm reading another thread on here about a company that has oils in their flavoring. Some say it's fine others not. Then some people are using aroma therapy oils and saying they are getting dizzy from as an that. And then there are health concerns about what we are vaping. Also some flavor extracts, if not all list "natural flavoring" as an ingredient. Since not all natural things are good for you I just have some reservation about using it, not that I won't. So I was thinking about making my own extracts. Anyone ever try that or see a post or website covering that subject? I think I'd like to go further than coffee or tobacco flavors too. Do you think it's possible to soak some orange zest in pg for a while and then strain off the bits? Or should I do it with vodka and then mix the result in with my base mix?
