Confusion about threading?

Ok so I recently bought an e-cig at a local shop. It's some kind of eGo, but the branding is some weird OVT that I was unable to pinpoint. Anyway, she gave me instructions with the e-cig(printout from some online eGo site) that says 'Thanks for your purchase of your EGO electronic cigarette. She also threw in a free tank, which was cool. It is a GS-H2 bottom coil tank. Some of these different tanks and threadings have me a bit confused. My friend explained that a GS-H2 is EGO style and I should look for similar tanks with that kind of threading, Like a Mini Pro Tank 2 apparently, Cone type coil. Reading over this it looks like a confusing mess of words and terrible sentence structure. So I'll try to make my question easy.

What are some high quality tanks are available for this battery type? From what I see I need EGO type threading not 510? Or maybe I'm confused. I read this is a EVOD style? Ugh I'm confused the more reading I do.

The EGO which uses your battery's outer thread is good for those clearomizers but if you upgrade tanks your battery should accept the 510 connector which is the inner threading on your battery. Some like the Protank 2 & Unitank will even come with a little cuff that makes the tank sit flush with your battery. The Protank 2 Mini uses the EGO or outer threads and is a pretty great glass tank, although it does not fit very much juice in it. Hope this helps! Basically, your battery should be good to go with the 510 (inner smaller threads) AND the EGO/EVOD (outer larger threads).

A photo of your battery might help, but if it is a typical Ego type battery, it has BOTH of the most common threads: Ego on the outside, "510" on the inside.
So you can choose from 100 popular juice-tanks.
The MiniProTank 2 is a great one - it's EGO threaded, and works great. It's also glass - which means you don't have to worry about how the plastic ones sometimes can be damaged by certain juices.
Someone mentioning EVOD can definitely by confusing - because EVOD is BOTH the name of a battery a lot like yours (an Ego) and a popular juice tank. They're very good, and cheap - but they're plastic. EVOD, MiniProTank, and the bigger ProTank all use the same coil inside.

It is kind of confusing to read about, but once you see it, it's pretty easy. Essentially, eGo threads are both eGo and 510 thread compatible, so you can use either type of tank/clearomizer easily. With many mods, most are 510 threaded, which obviously works great with 510 devices, but the lack of an external thread makes it incompatible with eGo style tanks/clearomizers. You can get an adapter that makes 510 work with eGo threads, though, but it adds a little bit of extra length. I hope that's clear?

The "smartest" strategy (in my personal opinion) is to try and consolidate your tank/clearo choices around the coils, so you don't have a bunch of different atomizers to support. For that reason, I chose EVOD, Pro Tank 2 and the Mini-Pro's to standardize on, since they all share the same atomizer. The EVOD and Mini-Pro are eGo thread, the Pro-Tank is 510...both work on an ego-style battery and the Pro-Tank is nice because they include a beauty ring to make it "look" right. Other people might choose different models, or maybe even choose throw-away clearos, it's up to you.

One thing I've found desirable (because I like having different flavors ready to rock) is to choose different sized tanks. I use the smaller, cheaper EVODs for sampling and things I might not be sure about and the larger tanks for things I am sure about. It's not favorable (for me) to tie up my larger tank on something that's going to take a few weeks to get through.

Train2 basically sums it up - eGo batteries are sold with all sorts of branding, but most basically have 510 internal threads and eGo external threads - you should be able to use a juice holder that's either called an eGo or a 510 with them. Many of the 510 devices will have some sort of seemingly-useless extra piece, often called a "beauty ring," that you screw on to protect the outer eGo threads when you're only using the internal ones.

Short answer: yes, it'll work fine.


Less short answer: The threads of a Kanger mini PT2 are very similar to the clearomizer link you posted. This thread size/gauge is considered the standard 'ego' threading.

You didn't list the exact brand or post a link to your battery. So, I'm betting that if it was sold as an Ego, the threads look similar to this pic. You can use either 510 or eGo threaded devices.

Ok you guys are all so amazing! Thank you so much for clearing this all up. I was getting so stressed out just trying to find a damned tank and not knowing if it was going to work!! My threading is on the outside and on the inside. I just looked haha. On my backup 650 mAh "Clean Cig" battery, it also has the outside and inside threading. Which is awesome news!

Now I understand what that ring is for, thank you. I keep seeing them sold and thought they were some kind of adapter, it makes sense now.

Both of 1100 and my 650 seem to have those so that's awesome. I'm currently poor and the less I have to buy the better.

My friend who knows QUITE a bit more about vapeing then I do suggested getting a Mini pro tank 2 or Pro tank 2. So far I'm a fan of the bottom coils. and he highly recommended this tank. So that will most likely be my next investment seeing as how it is pretty cheap but most people seem to like it. Also, the replacement 5 packs are cheap as well, and money saving is the entire reason I started looking into vapeing.

Yeah I noticed that the 1.5ml tanks weren't to bad when I first started, but I've been getting lower nic strength flavors to allow me to chain vape because I'm suddenly a e-juice vape connoisseur(apparently, ((Self branded))). And refilling these things isn't so much of a time consumer as it is a pain in my ...., and the waste of paper towels is TO DAMN HIGH! I'll most likely get something that hold 3ml or so.
