When you read these lists of contributors, bear in mind that the category "lawyers and lawfirms" is most often populated by lobbyists*, and remember which industry spends $billions to hire lobbyists. Just sayin'.

I'm also curious about Speier's legislative history. Nowhere on her website could I find any anti-smoking/tobacco bills she's authored or co-sponsored, until this (poorly named) SMOKE Act. Did some other CA congressperson, who may or may not have recently participated in a committee hearing, put her up to it? Inquiring minds want to know.

*"Lawer" sounds so much nicer than "lobbyist" as a revenue source, doesn't it?

Why is there always only a "D" beside every anti-vaping elected official at the federal level? It would be helpful if a few "R" at least came out with some favorable comments instead of silence. But silence is better than the alternative. I just don't get the "consistent" hate on vaping by the Dems.

Actually, one Congressman, Cliff Stearns, (R) Fl did come out with positive comments on vaping. He is the only one I am aware of and I believe he is no longer in congress.
