Connectivity problems make no sense (tanks work on one but not another battery)

What's going on here? Brand new Itaste 20W, Kanger Mini-Protank 3 works on both it and crummy EGO knockoffs, however the EVOD tank only seems to be working on the crumm knockoffs! ... is going on? I've cleaned them pretty good with isopropyl alcohol and q-tips. It makes no sense to me... obviously the coil works if it works on one and not the other.

But it is connecting on the battery with horrible 510 connectors... and not the BRAND new authentic iTaste 20w (today new....) that actually has a spring loaded post! The ego knockoffs lack even that, fall apart easy, and were a few bucks wholesale from China.

On a side note, some of the ego knockoff batteries charge... and some blink red briefly when screwed in, if delicately placed some will even keep the light red, however the battery will never have a charge! I have a ton (was planning on selling them at one point) of those little ego screw USB charge dongles. When I find my multimeter I'm gonna just take one of these broken batteries and solder it to a USB charger just to see if it's the connector or the circuit/battery that is failing!

EditL Ok the 20W posts aren't spring loaded... but still

I figured I'd update... turns out:

I go to my friends and explain it to him "Ahh it's just not screwed in all the way" so he cranks the coil down, and cranks it down on the tank. Success.

Unfortunately now it would take superman to unscrew the thing but I need to just find a rubberband to get some grip like we did after he mashed another one down on it.

So, just so you guys know it is working :)

After you get your tank unscrewed from your battery try adjusting the center pin of your battery. You should not have to crank down the tank to get a good connection. Just make sure that if you use something conductive (metal) to pry up on the center pin that you do NOT hit the fire button while you are working on the battery. Or better yet, turn off the battery.

Center Pin Issue - Fixing a non firing eGo battery

If you continue to have problems, buy a few spacers from MadVapes. They solve all connectivity problems. Just drop one into the 510 well of your battery and you're good to go! You can thank ECF member GinnyTx for this little tidbit!:)

Glad you got it sorted, but I will say if you continue to crank it down on your MVP, you will have threading issues and possibly break it.

You need to be gentle with the threading on your devices - they are very fine and easily damaged. Once damaged, they are tricky to repair and it often means replacing the device.

Put the atomizer in the freezer for 5 or 10 minutes. It works wonders when parts won't unscrew.

Cool tip! I'll try it!

Yeah indeed. I'm super gentle, he just turned it hard.

and just for the record :

the new MVP 20W does have a spring-loaded / flush 510 thread connection

if yours does not then that could be what is causing you troubles

Nah, the part that isn't spring loaded is actually the 510 adapter, the actual unit is indeed spring loaded.

Thanks for the replies guys! I appreciate it!

lolwut?

Did I say something stupid to that effect? If so.... yeah, I should have RTFM ;)

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh, don’t let people razz ya about the simplicity
of the mighty EVOD topper tank…

it is simple, cheap, reliable and if you can build the single coil
with cotton, just that much better !

the EVOD basically started it all – the simple single bottom coil
T3/MT3, EVOD, ProTank – and now look at it
the most popular topper tank on the market…
that would be the Kanger SubTank
which is just an EVOD on steroids (single horizontal bcc/w cotton)

life is good and simple…
