imagine your eGo having built-in charger, just plug USB cable into battery and charge & vape simultaneously... wet dream come true.

eGo USB battery / eGo USB passthrough - Spare parts Heaven Gifts

it´s bit pricey, but they dropped prices for eGo already, give it some time and it´s price will drop too... but i can´t stop thinking of this

It still doesn't solve the fundamental problem of batteries going through a charge cycle.

In otherwords that end battery piece will need replacement after a while even if you only vape using USB full time.

What would be better is a cable with no battery just a direct link.

Well anyways thanks for sharing the link. I guess it does at least allow you to vape while charging, meaning you should never have those moments where you're out of battery :) And its always nice to see advancements in the technology.

The problem with a no battery type PT is that many USB ports don't consistently provide a stable 5v. So the battery acts as a regulator providing stability. I suppose a direct cable with a 5v voltage regulator would provide no more than 5v, but wouldn't make up for low voltages. You might have to live with inconsistent vapor production as a result.

Also, many computer USB ports will fry with 2 Amps going through them, which is what a 5V PT will draw with a 2.5 ohm atty. Most battery recharging is around 500 mAmps or less. My 5V PT won't even work with computer ports. I need a AC/USB 2 amp converter, seems to have internal current sensing to not work with under-powered ports. The Hello Sit and Go 510 PT is a true 3.7V device with a trickle recharge of 300 mA, so much safer on computers and the batt itself. I love PTs, but they are an uncertain technology at present, even the ones with battery recharging. My Bartleby is a FAST USB recharge, so drawing higher current, and while it was fine with my USB ports, I did take out a couple USB cables with it. Eventually the recharging circuit died entirely, after about 9 months, but it still vapes great...I just use an external battery charger now.

It would be good to know more info about the recharging of these ego PTs.

I disagree. With it used mainly as a PT, the batt will rarely brought to full uncharged state. LiIons like to be topped off. The less often you fully discharge/recharge the longer it will last. If you only use it as a PT, it will never reach full discharge. LiIons do best when they are constantly topped off.
