Hey everyone. Something I don't quite get... I've been using blu for a week and they suck so my 510 should come today... I hear battery life is pretty bad- like 2 hrs use. Who smokes for two hrs straight? Assuming I get my nic fix I should be vaping about ten minutes every hour or two. A battery should last plenty long then right? A lot of vapers talk about constant vaping and I wonder if people are getting way more nicotine than in their analog days.... I want this to mimic my smoking habits as much as possible. Btw I'm on 24 mg right now... batteries on blu, dripping, last about 2 or 3 cigs worth. Thanks everyone... I really admire everyones knowledge and support here. :toast:

Well, you can try to have vaping mimic your smoking habits, but vaping nic is not like smoking nic. With smoking the nic is on ash particles (smoke) that go right into the lungs, thus making the nic absorption into the brain fast, like a minute or so, and the letdown is also fast. With vaping the nic is almost all absorbed orally and in the throat and nose, so the absorption is slower and much more sustained. Its also likely that we are absorbing considerably less, in general, than what we would calculate based on nic concentration and mL vaped a day. So it is likely that while you are certainly getting nic with vaping, it is a very different experience. I personally do not find it like smoking at all, and so while I tried to make it match my smoking habits in the beginning, it became more of a hit-when-you-want-it sort of thing. And additionally, because vaping is not like smoking, it takes a while to settle into a vaping frequency that works for you. 10 drags is about a cigarette, but depending on the juice, hitting technique, and a few other factors, 10 vaping hits might not be at all the same as an analog.

You might get a long time out of a 510 regular batt if you are only vaping occasionally with higher-nic juice. My vaping frequency gave me about an hour, and close to two hours with a mega batt.

As for "2 hrs use": that is not 2 hours continuous vaping, but 2 hours of typical vaping (obviously it varies from person to person). Most people would need a PCC or several backup batteries to get through the day. [In my case, the 510 is one of the PVs I carry around with me, so I usually don't bother to bring my PCC when I go out.]

NOTE: If you find that you really like the 510, an alternative to buying the PCC would be getting an eGO or the new Riva (both using the same 510 atty), providing 650 mAh or 750 mAh, respectively, compared to the 510 battery's 180 mAh. A larger upfront investment but they eliminate the need to frequently swap batteries in the PCC.
