I was reading a few reports in the ecf forums about some flavoring liquids containing diacetyl or diketones. Curious if VV is diacetyl free?

Thanks
Evosil98, for a more up to date discussion on this, please see the recent thread Organic Vs. Artificial flavors here:

I don't have any major updates yet, but I have obtained all of the MSDS reports and have an experienced flavorist and chemist who is taking a look at them for me. I've contacted several labs about self-testing, but it is clear this is a very expensive proposition for a small vendor like me, so I'm hoping the MSDS reports will shed some light. I'll post updates in the Organic v. Artificial thread as I move forward so please check back there.

I had an experienced flavorist take a look at the MSDS reports and they were, unfortunately, not very helpful. It looks like I'll have to get everything tested myself. I've been turned down by two labs already. Not sure why. Maybe because it involved electronic cigarettes as they just backed out as soon as I told them the industry I am in. Anyway, I have a referral to another lab and I'll probably have to test flavor by flavor as I can afford it. I've also just started to work with a new flavor company that is much more open and willing to work with me so far. Have a meeting with them later this week and I'm keeping my fingers crossed as it would be much simpler (and less expensive!) if they took responsibility for their own product and didn't try to hide behind "trade secrets." How much of a trade secret can it be when it's possible to find out the answer anyway with a lab test? A think a lot of this comes down to the fact that it involves electronic cigarettes as people seem unduly afraid of a lawsuit because electronic cigarettes are still somewhat of an unknown. The last month was a bit crazy for me, but I'll have more time this month to pursue this and will keep you posted.

I was intrested in this as well, a quick wiki search shows that diacetyl is naturaly found in dairy, and the compound used to flavor fake butter, and is the primary additive in microwave buttered popcorn, and identifide as the cause for the degenerative and non-curable disease found among those involved in the manufacturing of the popcorn which gave it the nickname popcorn lung. As a side note, diacetyl is also found as a byproduct of fermentation in wine, and beer. It seems that it dosn't cause problems when ingested, but not something you want to vape for sure... anyway... it seems that the use of natural flavors doesn't preclude its presence, but most likely not in any amount that would be the equivalent to an artifcially flavored butter popcorn vape, by someone who doesn't know what they are doing.
