Tibs and jj: I honestly don't understand... AFAIK, she's eligible under the old as well as the new rules--she was present at the thread at the time of her turning!!!! We have a post 30 minutes before and one 3 minutes after. Her name was visible in the box under the page at all times... What more do we want?

Okay, my turn......These Pre-vets need a window and you know it JJ , I agree with both Kat & Tibs...This Micro contest managing is ruining what we worked so hard to do in Pre-vets, The contest Rules are making it mighty hard for the whole team here to keep this ball rolling..Some don't even participate any longer.
we ALL have gotten mighty close to just walking away from it...if you and J0ker don't come to a decision pretty darn soon the whole Pre-vet thing is going to fall apart...who may I ask is going to be at blame for that happening? You both want to work with our team and keep this alive, THEN WORK WITH OUR TEAM.
If not then we can always start a new ECF Pre-vet, that has NO Contests, like it "originally" was.

j0ker has not looked at our proposed amendments yet as per his answer to my pm. hopefully, he will find the time this week. let's give it a little more time and, with luck, we won't run into another problem before he does come to a decision.

When it's all over, when it comes to the contest, fun and emotion HAS to be put on the wayside and I HAVE to follow the timeline.
Now I don't like doing this nor do I get any pleasure from doing it. I actually feel horrible when it's this close. It's sort of like making the decision during a disaster and deciding who lives or dies. But no matter how I feel the rules are the rules...there is no but but but.
I would have went the other way if Laura had posted within seconds before it turned 5:26.
I'm not always there to see who is there but in this instance, if I'd spotted her name, I would have done the ++. But I did not see it. If she was flying invisible, I could not see her.
The decision was out of my hands @ 5:26.
There have been others that missed the time just by minutes and I had to the --. To make an exception in this case would be unfair to them. And if I did where is the line drawn 1 minute, ten, twenty---it would be opening a can of worms. I'd also have to do a lot of backtracking.

I think she SHOULD qualify. Whether she DOES or not (under the old rules)... is not up to me. We need to make sure the NEW rules are flexible enough so that when j0ker reviews them, and hopefully OKs them, they cover this kind of "pops out during the turning" thing... for the bonus drawing too.

nope, her name was at the bottom of the page - unfortunately, she was kept busy by her husband and son and did not post till a few minutes after her turning ......... that's why common sense is more important than wording. plus, she's been celebrating with us for days .......

That one was intended to reward one of those who did it right and mainly because there was a problem of many not showing up at the scheduled time. That meant they had to be on PVT at the actual time that they turned. That meant forcing people to attend before and during the time that they turned. Whiskey you agreed to this at the time. And I'm not placing blame or trying to spread it around, you, nor I, could foresee the future.
And yes I know that we all learned some not-so-nice lesson from this. Since I've never handled anything this big, I've learned, and the hard way, that you can't force people into doing what you want. Nor could we expect people not to come and use PreVet just to get into the contest but this is getting into another issue.

then why do you keep bringing it up? i must have looked at more than a handful of your post already saying exactly the same thing.
you did not, at anytime, check with the committee to get our opinion of this extremely vague-worded rule before it was put in place.
laura's name stayed at the bottom of pvt all during the turning. that's why atty, nat and i were asking her to post. she has put more effort in attending pvt than a lot of other prevets and got the spirit of it. if she knew what's going on in here she'd probably shake her head and tell us to forget about it .........

I am sorry, JJ. Please don't be mad or hate me either, but I have been sick and at the doctor all day and I think you might to hear what I have to say. Laura has been psyched for days about her turning and she was there. She was also there, days before time helping get pictures up for another pre-vet and chatting with them. SHe has been in and out for several days just having fun and helping out. THere is just NO way that she wasn't there. SHe was logged into the room and watching and listening.... and what, darlin......her husband was yelling and she got called away from computer for a few minutes and that just makes it too bad for her. Now, I have never thought you a scrooge. I know that you have had differences with a couple of the people here and don't want to get into that. That was PRE-Morri and this is now. I think that you might think about it a little longer please.

Morri I don't do this to be mean. I know how she was there and so into the celebration. But I have been following the same guidelines for the last six months and to change is not fair to those that proceeded her. If jOker says okay then there will be changes. Until then things proceed like always.
Like I said, I've PMed the next five and so far no one seems to have any problem with what needs to be done. What needs to be done by all of you is to make sure they know up front what is expected.

Since I don't know when any change may take effect, I am going to reopen this thread in a bit.
Here are the conditions/rules or whatever you want to call them that I go by now. Yes I worded them but only after Whiskey agree that the bonus prize was for someone who participated and was there when they turned. These conditions are so it's plain and simple and I will not make any changes until jOker says it's all right. Not even if it's just pushing the line a bit out of fairness for those who have already followed them.
And for those who ask on whose authority, then mine. I was given this by Whiskey. I was suppose to share this with Atty and if I overstepped and made Atty feel like he had to back out, then I apologize. My only excuse was that I was excited and didn't know the real reason that he pulled out until recently. If Whiskey questions that she gave us this authority then she can go looking for her comment on the Contest Discussion Thread.
And I post these rules now because I claim full authority to the contest, along with jOker (this was decided by you just recently). Also for the new people or those who just don't understand them.
So until jOker tells me different, The Conditions/Rules (There are just two).

When it turns twenty-five minutes after, they are a Veteran and the decision is made for me.
When I open this thread, I will post the rules again. At that point this thread is only for you to check them and let me know if I have broke one of the two. Also for any thing else that is contest related.
