..............................................Gee I'm popular![]()
To make the last one crystal clear. I usually start checking for post an hour before but will accept them posting just a few minutes before. What I mainly look for is them posting right before the fireworks go off. I will even accept a post right at twenty-five minutes past the hour. When it turns twenty-six minutes after, the decision is made for me.
so how does this disqualify laura???? she posted 30 minutes before her turning and shortly after ......

My Thought:
Ok, let me make this as clear as I possibly can. I have nothing at all to do with the rules of the contest when it applies to the veterans portion.
Excerpt:
All ECF contest rules apply, with consideration to exceptions within this contest thread. Rules.
To enter you must be turning ECF Veteran in the year 2012.
Only one submission per participant, all excess post will be deleted and may disqualify the member.
Members may only win one (1) monthly giveaway. If previous monthly winner selected by Random.org, an additional request to acquire an eligible winner may be necessary.
Anything beyond these rules are not my responsibility. The whole agreement in the beginning of this contest was that I would assist in constructing the contest and administer the contest. I've left the eligibility requirements and enforcement of eligibility in the hands of those who run this section.
Too explain a little further, I only partially understand the requirements but I find them somewhat confusing. I've found in my experience that a confusing contest (or anything for that matter) will cause people to lose interest quite quickly. So my plan for 2013 is to make things a lot less stringent and in turn make the contest more fun, that is if there is a 2013 Vet contest. If we are unable to come to a smoother process, then I may choose to not be involved next year and either the contest will be abandoned or conducted outside the ECF Official Contest thread. I hope we can make this work, rather than abandon.
So in conclusion, I don't like rules being changed midstream but I feel an exception is warranted in this situation. So come up with the changes you feel are required and then we'll go from there.....

So to remind some of what's been said, "They should come to PreVet because they want to participate." The contest should be an extra reward, not a thing to strong arm them into participating. Nor should it require that they jump through hoops to get into a contest. I was guilty of the same thing but it soon became obvious we were going at this the wrong way. Wracked my brains to make the rules sound simpler and I hate seeing you guys go through what I've been through.
Then there was the confusion over the options. No matter how I tweak, it didn't get better.
I've heard from so many that it wasn't worth the hassle or it just confused the crap out of them.
You have a golden opportunity to use the contest as advertisement for PreVet. Like jOker said, keep it simple.I'd rather see you require that they participate in a couple parties before their join date than throwing conditions at them. After participating in the parties they are in. Just because they didn't like it, doesn't mean they should be omitted. To pick up the one's from the past, make an exception and let them do it even if they have already turned vet. It's win win situation. Members come to you because of simple way to enter a contest and you get more people to come play.
Once they say they want to participate, put your rules into effect.

Okay this is what I got right now. I may tweak it a bit but basically it will remain the same.

PreVet is there for you to celebrate your day and they may have some things they would like you to do. I’d advise you to show up a bit early and find out what they are if you don’t already know.
The Welcome Thread ties PreVet to the contest because it gets you an automatic entry. However the PreVet committee members do not determine if you are eligible for that special Grand Prize on Jan. 1, 2013. For this you must post at least once during the last five minutes of the countdown and the deadline for this post is twenty-four minutes passed the hour.
Please don't wait until the very last second because once you wear the ECF Veteran title, it is too late.
I’m also sorry to inform you that if you have prearranged the time of your turning, you are not eligible for the one prize. Just keep in mind, you are still eligible for that monthly prizes and hopefully there will be more than one grand prize.: )

I asked a moderator to come in and remove some of the post. Whoever does this, would you please leave this one.
Thank you.
Also I must apologize for some confusion I have caused here. I did state that I would except a post at twenty-five past. I meant twenty-four because at twenty-five past they are a veteran and it's too late.

Your wrong that is not all we have to do...we do MUCH more than that, the contests certainly makes it ALOT more than that, you certainly know how to simplify things when it suits you.Tweety I had to take some time and calm down again before responding to you. First you should know that it's breaking my heart that you are so unhappy.
One other thing jOker said when we put the contest together---there would be no changes.
When you all tried to do it the first time, he said no changes.
So what was set at the beginning is still in effect until I'm told otherwise.
I would love to change Laura just for you but if I did this then I'd have to do it for everyone who asked.
From now on I will PM them and make it clear what they need to do. This PM will let them know that it's me making the decision and if they are unhappy then they will blame me.
You are not authorized to PM anyone on our list having to do with representing the Pre-vet committee
All you need to do is go have fun and celebrate with them and forget this contest.
