The Wood Between the Worlds
When I dropped the death sticks for vaping, I went out into the world with evangelistic zeal. I told every smoker I met how great it was. I had 3 converts. Two guys at work and my sister-in-law.

Within weeks all of them were back to smoking. Including my SIL who is a diabetic in stage 3 CPOD(in stage 4 the doctor is replaced with a mortician). As Ron White says, "You can't fix stupid."

I gave up. I learned how to make my own juice. I vaped away and let them do their thing. When someone showed interest in my equipment, I'd get out a new tip and let them get a few hits of my WTA carto. Then I look them in the eye and ask, "Do you WANT to quit smoking?"

They say, "I need to quit."

I respond, "Until you WANT to quit, nothing will work. When you WANT it, come see me, I'll help you get started."

And I walk away.

I have 5 new converts now. They seem to be serious. I custom blend juice for each of them. I answer the bazillion questions that get asked in the new member's forum. I have some hope for this bunch.

I totally understand. My boss had a heart attack in Dec - had to be brought back to life in the ambulance. She FINALLY expressed an interest in my ecig a couple weeks ago (I'm at almost a year smoke-free) - so I loaded her up with a full EMDCC/Ego combo and said just give it a try. After two weeks she returned it to me and said she had been "too busy" to try it! ARGHHH! How can you be too busy to puff on something for a few minutes when you smoke two packs a day??? I know it's just an excuse but what are people so afraid of? I just don't get it. Ecig is the best thing that ever happened to me and I would love to share the news but with attitudes like this I just don't see how.

Congrats on your converts!!! My mom quit 20 months ago with lozenges. She needed to quit. She didn't want to, and she still wants cigarettes. I'm amazed she hasn't gone back yet. She still follows the smoke when she smells a cigarette, and she's told me she's rummaged through her house many times hoping to find a lost pack of smokes or even a .... to light up. I just don't feel that way at all (and I've only been quit for 18 days!) I don't see myself ever going back. But that is the difference - I wanted to quit. She never did want to, and she still doesn't want to be quit. I will have to use that phrase if someone inquires about my e-cig.

Somewhere out there
Very well said! I have tried to help family and sent out kits and juice etc and from what I know they are still smoking analogs, but DIL is vaping too, so there is hope. My BIL I have no idea if he tried the kits I sent. He just lost a kidney for smoking related illness. All you can do is try sometimes, and when they want to quit they have the equipment to help them. bnrk
