So far, my conversion rate seems to be one per month. I've been
vaping for nearly 5 months, and have converted 4 folks at work. So far.
Like many others, I've been freely handing out vendor cards, CASAA cards, and so on. But one of the game-changers for us was the opening of a local brick 'n' mortar
shop (Madvapes) just up the road from work. Makes for a fun little "field-trip" over lunch to grab some gear and show a new candidate another way of doing things that's far less likely to kill 'em.
I still take "smoke" breaks at work even though I can (and do) vape at my desk, mostly to get the exposure and demonstrate that "yes kids - this thing actually does work". One thing I never never never do is become evangelical about it; they have to start the conversation with a "what's that??" or "where can I get one of those" or (predictably) "do those
really help to quit smoking???" and go from there.
My latest convert has been a reinforcement of this approach. He works on a different shift than me, so our work-hours only overlap by 2.5-3 hours, which in turn means that we'll see each other only few times a week. We've been talking about vaping for about six weeks or so, but he didn't buy anything until he had done enough research to be comfortable. Then, this past Friday, I see him tooting away on an EMDCC on an eGO battery. Obviously, we get talking and he informs me that he's had this rig for almost a week and that he'd got it to experiment with cutting down on analog use, but ended up quitting completely, by accident.
It's really gratifying to know that I'm helping to change lives for the better this way.
