I posted this in the other CV Thread about those Vent Screws...

---

Just a Heads Up on those Vent Screws.

I believe that the ISO Standard for the Head Diameter of a M2.5 Cap Screw is 4.32mm to 4.68mm. So they should work as a BF Pin.

But...

The Head Diameter of a M3.0 Cap Screw is 5.32mm to 5.68mm. So if you want to use one of these Vent Screws, and the Head Diameter follows ISO Standards for Cap Screws, you're going to have to Reduce the Head Diameter for it to work as a 510 BF Pin.

Not Exactly an Insurmountable Task. LOL. But something someone looking for a 3mm BF Pin should Consider.

Well just ordered in some slighty longer vented m2.5
0.45 16mm long vented pins ( pictured above )
In the hope I can convert a few more atties ,
Would like to get the Virus rda converted to bottom feed next , has just enough room under the clamps for a long enough bf pins to fill the deck , had to import these from states , 6mm longer than the pins i currently have , so hopefully enough to get through a slightly thicker base/deck ,which my 10mm are slightly too short , will know in a week or so when these eventually arrive , will also try them on my kennedy 24mm too (same problem 10mm too short ) why dont these mod shops just order in longer bf pin we could at least cut them down to allow us to convert more atties .

I've looked at these same "vented" screws available on Amazon. Have not bought them because the diameter of the vent hole is not specified and looks to be too small for squonking. Do you have one, and what is the hole size?

Now that you Mention it, it does look like Kanda a Small Hole.

I think the Hex size for a M2.5 Cap Screw is 2mm. Looks like the Holes is about 1/3 of that.

So Maybe around .7mm (.026")?

Coppervape juice hole is 1mm. Too small for thick juice IMO. I have drilled one out to 1.2mm, which is what Fatdaddy BF pins are. It helped noticably, but I still consider it small. FWIW, what I shoot for with thick juice is 1.5mm.

If anyone intends to drill out one of these SHCS vented screws, be prepared to buy a cobalt drill bit. Most stainless steel devours HSS drill bits.

Yeah... Many Stainless Steels that haven't be Fully Annealed tend to Laugh at most HHS cutting tools.

There is also a Relatively Small "Speed n' Feed" window that will cut many Stainless for M42 Cobalt. Or even "Carbide".

I have a couple FDV screws. I might try those on the CV this weekend. I use 90+% VG juice and it might give some benefit. Definitely not going to drill out screws.

Hey No Problem.

Just another piece of Advise. Silicone O-Rings are usually Very Inexpensive. And many times Cheaper buy then they are to Ship.

So if there is No Extra shipping charge, its Not a bad idea sometimes to get a Size Bigger and a Size Smaller than you need. They can come in Handy down the road.

Yeah, I usually buy them in lots of 25 and have an assortment. I have some 10x1.5 and those MIGHT work, but if they leak I'll try a 2mm thickness.

Thanks again. :)

Just an FYI...

My 1st Coppervape Kit didn't come with an O-Ring for the Bottle. And since the Bottle didn't leak, I never thought about it one way or another.

It wasn't until I got a V2 Mod as a Backup (to a Backup) that I noticed that it included a Bottle O-Ring.

But since I wasn't getting any leaking, I never put the O-Ring in my V1.

I didn't realize there was an o-ring until mine broke, being the same color as the bottle, you can't even see it. I'm going to stick with an o-ring. I thought about trying without, but don't want to risk a leak. :)

I had some SAE (US) #7 o-rings and they seem to work very well. Gave a nice snug fit on the inside bottom edge of the cap.

That is One of the Things that Attracted me to the Coppervape.

Leaking.

Because if you get a Leak in a Coppervape, yeah... that would be a PITA. But I can just take things apart and Rinse things in Warm Water.

But if my DripBox 60w Leaks, well... that could be a Big Problem!

How can I tell which version I have? I have one brass and one aluminum, both purchased from Fast Tech over the past couple of months

I think that the Only Difference between the v1 and v2 Mod is that the Black Button on the v2 has a Bigger Shaft. And, of course, the Hole for the Button Shaft is Bigger in the Top Cover.
