Merely raising the question, in a case like this, is the same as making an accusation. My characterization of ......ed was meant as an encouragement for OP to calm the heck down and quite being such a reactionary paranoid. What Chinese business experienced over their extended New Year was the equivalent of a fire drill. The risk-aversion we have going on these days is more damaging to society than any epidemic in recent memory.Okay, but be fair. All she posted was the quote from their website, and asked if anyone was worried about ordering from China. She didn't even make a statement. The name calling reply wasn't on target, because she didn't insinuate anything about FT or single them out, other than provide their own quote- then the general question of worries about China. She didn't even say she was worried herself.
And obviously, plenty of people are worried at least a little. You may think their reasons are invalid, but they could be worried about the virus itself, about really long delays in shipment, or even that it could get bad enough over there that some companies might go out of business. I doubt many over there are enjoying their "extended vacation."
The vast majority of our consumer goods are manufactured in China, so if any substantial danger were to arise from imports we could reasonably expect to see the border services and customs collection departments to shut down immediately. Since that hasn't happened, it's business as usual.
