+1 on that. By the first 1-2 I spen about $250 on supplies, flavors. pg/vg and the nic base.

I would say on average I spend about evry 2-3 months I spend about $50 on supplies. The big cost being wen I need to order my 100mg of nic mix.

I also see a lot of people use the 100mg nic mix. I assume for the same reason I use it. It easy on the math? lol

I am amazed at some of these per/ml calculations. Now my 1st question would be how much did you have to buy to get that cost per/ml so low. When I first started to vape I bought a 1/2gal. of PG and got a free gallon of VG from P&G. 3 months into vapeing I find I have a sensitivity to PG so I had to gave the PG away(waste of money). I still have some of the free VG left after 2 yr. of DIY, it's been in the freezer and quite frankly I would rather have my freezer space back. I don't want 4 oz or more bottles of flavorings cluttering up my house just to save a few pennies here and there. I now only keep 10ml and a very select few 30ml bottles of my favorite flavors at a time and believe me that is more than enough stuff to keep wrangled(200+ flavors now). I am at about $.09 per/ml and have included VG, misc supplies(those bottles, syringes/needles, awful DIY's that were pitched and storage containers all add up), and of course flavors. Luckily I am off the nic so that's a nice savings but since I am VG heavy in my mixes I use about twice as much flavor as most(25%) unless it's a strong flavor. I pay anywhere from $.12-$.25 per/ml for my flavors(TFA, CA, HC, LA & FA).
Is it worth it you ask....you betcha!

I buy my PG and VG by da gallon from Essential Depot. My nic normally is RTD, 250 - 1000ml @ 60mg. With my pg/vg costs under $.007 per ml, including $hipping, that leaves quite a bit of wiggle room for nic and flavs!

Flavors are da wild cards in my computations. I usually have enuff to wait for da $pe¢ial$!!!

My first 3ml bottle of DIY e-juice cost upwards of $100.

The rest of it's been free ;)

I'm with Cavediver on this one. Of course that first 3 ml bottle includes enough extra to last me at least a year.

Seriously, I bought 125 ml of 100 mg nic juice (50/50) and 500 ml each of PG and VG. I mix them in a 1:3:3 ratio which gives me approx. 14% nic juice base in a 50/50 PG/VG ratio. So that initial investment produced a 875 ml of base (14%, 50/50) with some PG and VG left over (approx. 125 ml each). That cost a bit less than $50.00. That's - what? - 6 cents/ml?

Then it's just a question of adding flavorings. I spent approx. $40.00 in a couple of dozen different flavorings from 3-4 different companies - everything from fruit, bakery, mint, tobacco, etc. etc. Then I just started playing with them.

I'm not too fussy about being precise with exact ratios yet but so far I've liked everything I've come up with. Nothing has gone to waste.

I did buy a tobacco liquid (not DIY) that I didn't particularly like. Added some cherry - much better.

So my advice is to just have fun with it.

I used subadans excel sheet to calculate the price per ml.

https://www.filesanywhere.com/fs/v.aspx?v=89716a8960646eb99c6c

I didn't buy huge sizes because of start up. I come up at 5-6 cents a ml even with the expensive flavoring.
I am not considering bottles and reusable supplies. Even figuring those in over time, I say we are still saving booo cooo dough

Thank you for your question as it also forced me to finally figure it out for myself. I diy for about 7 cents/ml not including hardware needed such as syringes. I don't use much though in that regard. I mix my batches in the range of between 40 and 60 ml. A 10 ml syringe for nic/VG and a 25 ml graduated cylinder for PG is all I use. I simply count drops to add flavour.

I can get my cost down by buying my flavours direct and in bigger quantities and also my PG/VG is pricey compared to what I see others are paying. But for now I'm happy.

An interesting side note, Once, while making a multiple batch I grew bored of counting drops and so I counted them into my syringe in order to see how many ml to fill the syringe with for the next bottle and realized that it was more like 40 drops = 1 ml and not the 20 drops you always hear about. This meant that for the last 8 months of my diy adventure I was actually only mixing to 10% when I thought I was mixing to 20%. Now I wonder about some of the flavours that didn't quite turn out great. As I never really wanted to exceed 25% - 30% flavour, I would stop experimenting and chalk up the juice to no good. In reality, I was only ever getting as high as 12 and 1/2% - 15%. So now I'm back to the drawing board with certain recipes. This time using a 1 ml syringe for flavouring and/or counting 40 drops/ ml instead.

Sometimes drops will be 32 or 34 or 42. Many variables.
If you are wanting to switch over to ml instead of drops, not all is lost. If you have the drops down for your recipes just count each flavoring to get your drops per ml on that flavoring and you will be golden.

I am saving money. I used to have to buy juice at $10-13 for 30 ml or over $30 per 100 ml. Even if I pay $7 per 100 ml [ double Scubabatdan's calculations] when I include all my equipment it is still a lot of money saved!!!! Also, I do have the security of knowing that I cannot run out of ejuice since I have a two year supply of nic in the freezer :) I can make any level of nic I want in my ejuice so I don't have to worry about not having the right nic strength available in my treasure trove of juice. If I am vaping a lot, I make some 12 mg nic. For in the mornings, I make some 24 mg nic. For the afternoons, some 18 mg nic.

Well, I would have to go back and consult old receipts, but for sure DIY is a savings of at least 1000%. Today I bought 2 10ml bottles of flavorings for $5.99 each. That is enough to flavor hundreds of ml of juice? In the recent past I have paid $25 for a 30 ml bottle of premade, nothing special juice (okay, it is my favorite but come on!) and even more than that, $1.80 per ml (including shipping) for my beloved WTA infused juices.

Yeah, even the stuff I had to pour down the drain was a great savings!

Hi Caridwen,
I don't know when that was, but have you noticed any change in that? As far as going bad? And when did you get it. Thanks

No, it really seems fine to me. Unfortunately I didn't save the paperwork- I don't think. I'll look around. I know it's been well over a year. Maybe closer to two? Is that possible? I had it for the longest time and never opened it. I'll look around again for the paperwork- I'm curious myself.

Edit: I think I've had it for two years. Boy time flies!

Thats interesting, keep an eye on it. Dow says 2 years and you have reached that piont.
I bought a gallon of PG myself, even though I told myself that is going to last way too long. I did put it in glass and am hopeful it will last a few years beyond 2.

Yes for sure. You are correct. Viscosity will be a major factor. I should clarify that just because I found that 40 drops of TPA RY4 = 1 ml, it doesn't mean that 40 drops of CAP Sweet Strawberry necessarily will.

I don't use a lot of VG- and I have put some in glass bottles in the freezer. We'll see how it goes.

nic, pg & vg from Wizard Labs /// flavorings from Flavor West & Mount Baker Vapor

I have a customer that likes 36mg with strong flavor
He has customers that like 36mg
wth? - customer's always right so he gets it that way.

I figured his 36mg juice costs me $8/100ml if MBV and $6.36/100ml if FW

I make my own @ 18mg & 11.5-12.5% flavor so it's south of .06/ml

I vape for ~30¢/day vs. $10/day for cancersticks

EPIC WIN vs smoking :2cool:

FYI-
I also have some really nice Bromex cylinders & flasks that sit on the shelf looking pretty.
I use plastic because it's hydrophobic and the liquids pour right out quickly with only a few tiny drops left behind.
