The Japanese cotton pads are a lot easier to wick with. I noticed that right away. Also, they do taste better. cotton balls have a small taste to them. I really didn't notice it until i switch to Japanese cotton. now i really notice it if i have to use the cotton balls. There is defiantly a taste difference.

I used the KGD cotton and then I found Sally Beauty supply salon cotton coil. about a years worth for $3.29. Works just like or maybe better than the KGD pads for me. It is fluffier and has the same or less break in flavor. I had 85 pads of the KGD in the mail when I found the salon coil and gave the pads to the wife unit to use on her face when they came in.
It is better than cotton balls as it is an aligned fiber non twisted rope about the size of my thumb and 45 ft long, so no unrolling a cotton ball and the fibers are aligned well for maximum wicking. Does not say organic or anything on it though so I will likely die a horrible death whether I use it or not.

Same as mentioned above. I started with Cotton Bacon but I like Japanese cotton slightly better. I bought a jig/coiler, never used, and it came with some Texas Raw Cotton. I tried it in my 26650 rba that I built to .35, and it had a very strong flavor during break in, but vapes really well now with no taste. Also, I just bought a huge bag of 100% cotton balls from food lion because it was $1 and change. I got home and unrolled a ball to compare to cotton bacon. IT looked identical and even smelled identical. It had a slight taste during break-in, but like the rest, it lost the flavor and vapes really well. I have enough cotton to last me at least a couple of years. I really want to try Rayon next.

I had no idea there were so many cotton options!
OHH yes! And each option seems to have a group of devout followers. A few of them may be deviant followers though :D
some use wicking materials from products that I will not mention on here.

The easiest is probably the Japanese cotton squares, and they work fine they are not the cheapest but work fine and are easy for beginners to use.

Do not use standard off the shelf cotton balls many have perfume in them and are horrible to vape with, I tried one. The organic ones are usually ok though.

Welcome Gokus!

I use cotton balls for my Protank 2 heads. I use the Japanese cotton pads for my rebuildables (kayfuns, RDAs, Subtank Mini, OCC heads.)

I picked up a pack of 165 sheets of Shiseido cotton from Macy's for about $10. If the coil is < 1.5mm, I use the cotton balls; bigger than that, the cotton pads.

Walmart cotton balls for $1.87. Grabbed a handful and boiled them about 6 months ago. In a couple more I will need another handful. Next year I'll need to visit Walmart. The fancy stuff is nice, and all, might even function better. But it is not easier to work with, for me. I can wick from a ball without a cutting tool. I just pinch a bit off, roll it a bit and stick it through the coil. 3 minute from vape to wick to vape in my Kayfun

You might want to try the Sally Beauty supply salon coil cotton. nice aligned fibers and 3.29 for 45 feet of it. A years worth for me.
