so i built these dual 24g nichrome 80 coils in my tugboat sitting at .58 ohms on a panser style mech mod clone, using organic cotton from walgreens
now here is the problem after about 4 hours of off and on vaping the cotton is gone in the coil like ive vaporized it to oblivion! ive tried to stuff it in there so that i cant get any more cotton in it, ive tried just loose enough to pull it through gently tugging at my pv and way loose that it dont tug nothing when i pull the cotton.
ive kept my wick soaked constant and ill just be puffin and boom burnt taste pull the cap off and gently pull the wick to check and it falls out of the coil like it was never in there.
please help me

I've been wanting to get some Nichrome also. I've used it before and like how the outside stays shiny like chrome, rather than turning dark like iron with kanthal.

Can't believe you didn't taste the cotton burning during this time. You must be use to a bad vape. You definitely weren't wicking it right with cotton, way too tight. Use about half as much cotton as you are.... Or you just ran it dry and somehow didn't notice the dry hits..!?!

You probably will have better luck with rayon because it likes to be snug. Resists burning better. You can pick up a sample of rayon from walmart, packaged with another product. Check the rayon thread. Johnnydill just picked up a sample we were talking about it the last 2 days.

Rayon sounds good and did you not see my wick never went dry it was still soaked when I pulled it out

confusing thread is confusing.

cotton doesn't evaporate. The only way any would be missing is if it set on fire, in which case it wouldn't be wet.. and you would be hacking and possibly throwing up.

My guess.. You've wicked it a few times so you think you've gone through the entire spectrum, but really you'll probably need to play with it quite a few more times to get it right.

If it seems like it isn't enough wicking material after you've been using it for a while, that means you didn't use enough wicking material.

Either way what you're saying isn't concise enough and comes across incredibly confusing. You should work on that.

Pictures would help a lot. They might make it much easier to understand what it is you're trying to convey.

No dry hits were involved until the last hit tasted burnt cause that wick was gone in the coil so I was hitting straight coil this wick lasted a whole day of casual vaping never once did I let coils dry out and when I got the burnt taste I gently pulled wick from side of coil with no resistance it pulled out and nothing was in there

The wick shown in the photo is FAR too much cotton for the size coil you have there.. I can see that just looking at the tail on it, it's so bloated on the other side I can just about guarantee you're choking off the wicking of juice which will keep the part of the wick inside of the coil dry no matter how wet you have the rest, and will result in dry hits.

If what you're saying is that the wick located inside the wraps of the coil is burning away, then what I said above is why. You need less wick. It should almost feel like you don't have enough when you pull it through the coil.. There should be almost no resistance at all. The cotton will swell with juice and fill the rest of the space inside the coil. This will allow proper flow and keep your hits nice and saturated throughout.

I would suggest using alot less cotton as a tail too.. too much (bed of cotton) without a high power build and you'll just waste the juice that gets sucked up into the parts of the cotton that are just laying in the deck. all you really need is enough to touch the deck on each side.. maybe a little extra on one side or the other if the rda you're using has a tendency to leak. make the ends of the wick nice and fluffy... If you cut them off and leave that cut edge it will be harder for the cotton to wick correctly because it will be pinched off at the ends.

Yeah, juice isn't getting easily to the middle section, so that burnt taste you got was the cotton inside burning.
You want to be able to slide it back and forth in the coil easily...

Or...maybe buy and try some "Ready X-Wick". Personal opinion is it doesn't wick as well, but if you get it wicking, it's clean flavor - and it is BURN PROOF. The stuff literally can be held in a torch to clean it off, and then re-use it...
