I was walking through Dollarama today looking for the "acrylic lipstick organizer" for $2. Well I found it. Does what I needed it to do. Organize my growing collection of atomizers.
I also found a "yacht mop". It's a replacement head for a mop. No handle. What struck me was it was 100% cotton. So into the basket it went.
Got it home and here is what I found. Each strand is about 45cm or 18in long. Each strand is about 5mm diameter and made up of 4 ply. There are about 50 strands to a mop. If I unravel the strand each ply is about 1mm in diameter.
So I boiled half of it for 30 minutes. No smells or colours. Left it to dry. Burned a bit to see it it really was cotton. Yep, nothing but ash.
Got impatient so I made up a coil and stuffed some unboiled stuff into it. Mounted it in a KFL, primed it, test fired and no issues. Closed it all up. Filled it and vaped my favourite juice.
Considering this is my first ever attempt at building a coil I am quite pleased with myself and the results. It tastes just fine. But I have nothing else to compare it to.
I had been looking around for cotton wicking for quite some time. Balls, pads, yarn, string were considered. This fits my needs. Already in a wick shape, about the right diameter and cheap. Only $1.25CAD
I now have enough wick for a small city.
