I've had success using cotton balls. I've also tried cheesecloth and bamboo yarn. The cotton ball is lots easier to wrap a coil around.

I need to try the cotton balls next time I change the wick. I have used 100% bamboo and 100% cotton yarn. Both work great IMO - thought cotton seemed to give me a cottony feeling in my throat - may have been allergies - currently using bamboo stands - great - no dry burning - well not really needed - juice doesnt gunk up as bad either....

I use cotton yarn, and candle wick as well as bamboo crosstich thread in mine and they do really well. The candle wick is the only thing that goes in my chalice or ERA the bamboo and yarn work good in the penny

+1 for the sterile cottonball, it wicks and holds the eliquid better (= less dry hits/flooding) than the square braided cotton wick (had to unbraid but would flood more frequently). It's also easier to replace, just pinch a small amount of cottonball and roll it into a wick then pull out the old wick out (w/o removing or stretching the coil) and slide the new wick in. :vapor:

WoW! Changing the wick without changing the coil? Cool! I am awaiting my Phoenix style rba, my first and I am very excited! Will be stalking the mailman soon! :)
