Cotton rebuild ? Getting cotton particles in your throat.

Hello all after doing a few Kanger coil rebuilds really enjoyed the taste from my cotton wicks, However noticed after a while I would get a cotton particle stuck in the back of my throat.
I don't know how to avoid this. Using organic cotton boiled for 30 minutes.

Any suggestions would be great. Using Protank 2 with evod coils rebuilt with cotton and 32g Kan.

That cotton particle is a pain to get out of the back of your throat.

Don't want to go back to silica tastes is nothing compared to cotton.

Try switching to cotton cheesecloth - boil, cut then roll into wick

how did the cotton wick get dry enuf for the cotton to separate on an inhale? I tried to remove some cotton from a coil when it was damp with juice and it wasnt easy getting it to come apart without messing up the entire wick...

Exactly. Its (nearly) impossible to get wet cotton falling apart and in your mouth. And i dont stuff a lot of cotton in the coil, just enough that it cant slide out of the coil. Too much or too less cotton isnt good.

I really can't see that happening. Once that cotton is wetted down from liquid there isn't an option for "particles" to be going any place.

I have never had that problem with cotton, I use it in all my builds including the wife's protank type coils. I have found that the CVS brand surgical rolled cotton works great.

I have never boiled cotton. That might be your problem there. Try cotton balls.. Never ever had that happen in all the months Ive used cotton.

Sounds funky. As everyone else stated, once wettied you shouldn't have it make particles. Have you checked everything else in order to rule out the cotton?

I also use cotton in all my builds. CVS organic cotton balls. Never boiled. I have never experienced cotton in my throat either.

Do you need to boil your cotton because you prefer the taste or because that is what you were always told? Boiling is not necessary unless you experienced flavor change that many people say they tasted without boiling. (If you do need to boil, 3 minutes is all it takes to sterilize. 30 minutes is just making yourself wait an extra 27 minutes). It may be the brand of cotton you are using. Are you cleaning out the tank after you remove the old coil or are you just switching it out?

If you have cotton particles hitting the back of your throat, STOP! That means you also also inhaling them into your lungs.

I use cotton balls too and on my rba so the wick is right there under my drip tip and no cotton in my throat. I have even made a very long wick that goes under my drip tip and into my tank still no cotton in my mouth. If you are using a high vg liquid it can leave a deposit in the back of your throat that feels like something stuck and you want to cough a lot. But other than that nothing else has ever stuck in my throat.

I also have not experienced that problem...using CVS "organic" cotton balls which I do NOT boil.

What is the point of boiling cotton?

You might be getting what I call small fireworks. In the factory set-up, I don't believe the "Flavor wicks" are for flavor at all. They are Firework control. Try a very (very) small flavor wick of cotton on top of the main wick. It will give you a tighter draw but controls the fireworks. If You start making your own coils, go vertical. Good Luck.

I use cotton in everything and that has never happen to me. I use cotton in my TRIDENT, IGO-L, PROTANK 1, PROTANK 2, RUSSIAN FULL SIZE, KAFUN CLONE, well everything I got and it works great.

I wouldnt worry too much about it bro, as long as you are following the thousands of different methods, you should be okay

Ive tried the cotton balls, they keep rolling out of the coil...
