Seems like I have a lifetime supply of every 'latest/greatest' wicking material that came along from early 2013... a lot of materials that were never used again. I stopped playing that game when CBv2 was proclaimed to be the 'L/G' wicking. It works well enough for my uses, so I don't pay any attention to the newer L/G's. ;)

I got tired of the newest hype cotton too. I bought a lifetime supply of rayon. Pack of cotton to show size reference. (Box is packed full when new, roughly the equivalent of 500+ bags of cotton bacon for under $20)

Cotton pads. Other stuff is sometimes hard to get 2 equal wicks for dual coil. I hated cotton bacon and hate, albeit slightly less, native wicks for this reason. I use them for single coil when I have some around.

Last time I went into a particularly terrible B&M, when I asked for cotton pads the clerk replied 'dude, those are like super low end - I wouldn't recommend it and we don't have any'; then he took a drag from his ....ty smok mod.

I presume the the "feets" is Japanese for foot. :)

I don't know what the sliver is either. But it really has no cotton flavor and wicks like a champ. I put the Rayon away for this one.

I didn't even catch the 'sliver' part.
I had to go back and look to see what you were talking about, lol. :D

Luckily a gal pal in San Diego sent me a sample mailing envelope full of the CelluCotton when it first became the rage, and I quickly learned it did work at all for my builds/vaping style. It was the fastest wicking material I'd tried at the time though. A 3lb (500') box of CC similar to yours was $12.95 at a beauty supply here at the time. My biggest stashes of "left over" wick materials - huge bags of organic cotton balls bought very early in my vaping tenure (5.5 years ago, dirt cheap, used elsewhere), skeins of P&C cotton yarn (also cheap/trashed), SS mesh (still have a use for it), and boxes full of Koh Gen Do pads (backup). There were others in smaller quantities that were just tossed out. I've only been using RxW and CBV2 for wicking since (and very rarely SS mesh in a drilled out NoName NoGain RDA on mech squonker).

The 3lb box is bigger than the 500' box. The 3lb is closer to 1200'.

I tried quite a few other cottons but always got some weird tastes out of it. For me, Cotton bacon v2 was my go-to as it had less of the taste but it was still there. I get zero weird taste out of the rayon so, I went big with it. Taste is such a personal thing though, so one size does not fit all in these situations. I am smell blind so that has a serious effect on my sense of taste, and I'm not the best person to ask because of it.

I always got a strange taste from Rayon, so I've shied away from it.

Yeah, that's what I mean. Taste is so subjective it is practically impossible for someone to tell somebody else what will work for them.

When I do suggest something, I also let them know it works for me but may not for them. I recommend them to try it and see what they think. There is never going to be a definitive "best" for everyone.

I still have packs of Koh Gen DO around in my stash, but all I've vaped for the last year or two is Sally's Rayon. It breaks in almost immediately and for my taste it's without any kind of break in flavor shift. You get lower flavor for the first few hits and then it blossoms. I got the wet T-shirt taste from almost every cotton type I tried. Koh Gen Do was much better because the fibers were combed well.

I love Sally's rayon too, it's all that I've used in some time. Despite my vague feelings of "well you can rinse off wounds with HP, you can actually drink it (although mainly, to induce vomiting which maybe is NOT so great) I have no idea what it would do in a wick and in your lungs, so I'd be inclined to tell you to steer clear. There's enough cotton specifically for in the vaping market that I'm sure you can find some decent, unbleached cotton for a reasonable price, and to last you a while, etc.

Unless you wet the wick with Hydrogen Peroxide or put some in the juice, I seriously doubt it would make that far. It is H2 O2 and quickly to H2O and oxygen. Oxygen is what does the bleaching with it.
I agree, the hydrogen peroxide bleaching method shouldn't be a problem for vaping. I would bet that most vape branded cotton are hydrogen peroxide bleached. The chlorine bleach method of standard and cheap cotton balls, yarns and thread would be the problem bleaching technique.

The only cotton I have seen used in vaping that is not whitened with a bleaching process are the cotton pads like KGD where the pad is slightly brownish in color.

It is more important to look for ones that say 'chlorine-free' than the the hydrogen peroxide part.

When bleaching cotton, most manufacturers don't just dump hydrogen peroxide in a vat full of cotton.
If this were true, I would agree with everyone stating that hydrogen peroxide bleached ones are safe for vaping.

Chlorine can be found in cotton bleached with hydrogen peroxide. (my previous post in this thread touched on this.)

Is it really going to hurt you to vape with them, doubtful.
Does it go against the idea of vaping for harm reduction? A little.

I simply say if you don't know sure, do you want to risk it?
The answer to that question is one only you can make.

When bleaching cotton, the oxygen in the hydrogen peroxide is only one part of the bleaching process.
Hydrogen peroxide is not the first nor the last step in the bleaching process.
You're oversimplifying it.
