cotton wick wont go past 20 watts without burning?

I have some readyxwick on order so its not a huge issue but currently I'm using cotton. I go 30 watts and it starts tasting burnt after a few hits. Back it down to 20 watts and everything is fine. Is this a problem everyone has? I find it hard to believe because most people only use cotton wicking. I don't think there would be these 150 watt mods without them working with cotton.

short answer, wicking it wrong.
too much/too little cotton, but a pic would help, coil type and diameter, which atomizer.
wicking has to be just right for it to wick properly
imo its more important than the coil build

I'm sure some much more technical folks will chime in here but you have to take into account ohms as well. 30 watts on a 1.8 ohm build will burn where 30 watts at .5 ohms likely won't. I've also heard folks having good results going higher ohms to achieve the same results. I tend to like a cool to warm vape so I rarely break 20 watts on any of my mods. But I also never build below 1.0. I think a lot of these 100 watt devices are purchased with the future in mind. Who knows where vaping is heading.

Actually its the coil that came with the tank so I don't really know the diameter but its 1.2 ohms and I am vaping at 20 watts on a istick 30watt using a lemo tank. It is quite a chore to take this thing apart. Is there any way to help me without me draining the tank and disassembling it to get pictures?

Edit: Actually I think I did build this coil and its 3.5 mm inner diameter. 7 wraps of 26 gauge a-1 kenthal.

You might wanna try 5 wraps
I built a micro coil like that & it was a diaster to vape

It just tastes burnt but when I back the wattage down it goes back to normal. Its because there is not enough juice on the wick I think.

Cotton is fairly notorious for needing to rewick after getting a dry hit; the wicks tend to get scorched and no amount of backing down the power will cause the taste to go away. That leads me to believe you're not charring the wick, so that's good.

But I do wonder if perhaps the cotton isn't snug enough inside the coil. If the wick isn't making good contact with the coil, the coil can get too hot and give you that taste. I'm a rayon man, so my cotton-specific skills are non-existent. But that's how it works with rayon, so that's my first guess here.

the lemo is basically a kayfun , there are so many vids out there, problem is everyone has a diff way of wicking it.
ur wick cant keep up to the coil heating properties.
try different wicking methods,
important notes - less is more, dont use too large of a diameter of cotton going through coil, but saying that to make it too thin.
keep ends fluffy while tucking in to deck
great vid that help me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xaryShHOK7I even though vid quality is not great
