Cotton wicks

Has anyone else noticed a strange feel in the throat after vaping through cotton. I tried to use cotton wick because of the whole fiberglass in the lungs thing. After only about 10 hits I start to feel something in my throat. I tried a few different cotton strings, and some cheesecloth and got the same result from all of them. I don't get that at all from silica wicks or from cartomizer type tanks.

I tried the cheesecloth and for myself had no trouble with it, I just didn't like it. Went back to the silica.

Didn't try cotton yet, but when switching from silica to bamboo I'm getting more throat hit.
However, it is not in a bad way (no burning feeling) and the flavor IMO is better.

I've been rebuilding my Vivi Novas with 30-ply cotton candle wick for a few months and I love it. No weird taste or throat sensation.
