I personally like using Peaches and Creme cotton yarn from Wal-Mart....boiled to remove sizing. It is extremely easy to work with, and is perfect for 1/16" coils. Because it is preformed, you get consistency which is a big plus for me too.

I cut off about a 3ft piece, boil it twice for about 10 min each (changing the water between boils). Then let it dry over night. Next I cut one end into a point and take a drop of Elmer's glue and rub it into the point making it perfectly round and then leave it to dry. This gives me what amounts to a needle tip on my yarn to poke it through a coil. I always make sure to pull it all the way through and cut it off from the back end of the yarn piece so my needle tip is ready for the next coil. The one 3 ft piece lasts for several months since I only use about 1/4"-1/2" for most of my builds.

With this method I can pull out an old wick and rewick it in a matter of seconds, unless I need to do a full clean on the coil then it takes a couple of minutes tops.

Smart! I'm still off and on about the boiling thing but I guess it can't hurt. Will boil some tomorrow....I'm going to feel weird about this.

want the best cotton available?
don't want to boil cotton with your head down hoping nobody sees you?
want great wicking and great taste from your cotton with no break in period?

you want koh gen do organic, guaranteed not to have garbage in it cotton pads.

just peel the pad in two layers, cut a strip about the size you need along the direction of the fibers and go.

this stuff's fantastic!

How long have you been doing this with no adverse effects ?

about 6 months for me.

but i'm tellin' ya... you gotta try that koh gen do cotton. it's friggin' fantastic! you'll see, after a while, you'll notice other cotton gives off a taste when you first install your wick. koh gen do doesn't do this, it's easy as pie to work with and the fibers are already lined up perfectly straight for fantastic wicking properties.

it's love at first vape, i tell ya.

Plus another good thing is all you have to replace is the cotton...don't have to wreck your build! I had a coil last me over 3 weeks..I just use it at night though. I just dryburn it...without the cotton...and give it a good rinse. Good as new!

Yeah... When the coil takes a dark appearance, just pull out the cotton, dry burn and rinse off. Then re-wick with some fresh cotton and you have a brand new coil again.
