When I fall back into near exclusive analog usage, then go back to vaping, I find myself coughing more than usual for the first day. It's a different substance from smoke, thus my lungs have to re-acquaint themselves with it. Your friend doesn't usually inhale large amounts of smoke, or vaporized PG/VG, therefore it's not surprising that he coughed. He's inhaling a foreign substance into his lungs, and his body's natural reaction is to try and get it out - thus, a mad coughing fit.

The first time I vaped I coughed my lungs out. Then just learned to take smaller drags. If I take in a lot of vapor I still choke. But not like that first hit. Drank some water and everything is good. also my lungs feel like I smoked 2 packs of analogs. but I have read thats normal for a few days. We will see. Im also still not off the analogs yet so maybe thats the whole problem. But I am smoking less so that says something. Ive only been vaping for 3 days. Just a little new.

I started vaping in Feb '10. I had that violent coughing, way beyond anything that I ever had with cigarettes. I tried combo's of VG/PG, flavors, nic levels etc. until I read a comment that someone made about PEG-400 (no relation). I had to start mixing my own with TW's Platinum Ice. It has totally made a difference. I don't know where else you can buy it for mixing, I've only had to order it once, so far.

I have to add that Ive developed a cough since losing my smoker's cough (lol yeah hopefully that makes sense) which SEEMS to be realted to the nic in my juice. I have a feeling that although my body seems to tolerate nic now better (no headches etc) my throat has become LESS so. I think I'm going to have to reduce my nic from 12mg to lower - its definitely a 'throat cough' with no lung involvement (I remember that smoking cough, it hurt my chest, this doesn't affect it at all); throat isn't sore either. I know to check for 'lumps' cos I have (or rather HAD) a thyroid condition - which is now almost gone since starting vaping (doc has reduced meds to zero unless I feel I have symptoms) and no part of my throat is swollen or tender (warning signs to see the doc!).
I find it rather odd (and a little ironic) that the TH is now way too high (and its way less than my cigs used to be lol).

I have been searching for a thread that had my symptoms in it and this one comes the closest. I have been vaping for almost 90 days. within a week I lost my smokers cough. I felt great and my lungs were clear. In the last two weeks though I have had a different kind of cough. It's like you take a hit and you cannot take it in, your lungs will not expand. now it did start when I got some cinnamon. I am going to try and lay off the cinnamon for a few days to see if that is the culprit. It's not a 24 hr thing but enough to think about quitting the nic alltogether. anyone else having this issue. sorry this is so long I'm a noob.

i've been analog free for about 5 months now. when i first started vaping i too had a coughing fenzy, then after a couple wks my body started excepting my vaping pleasure. i started out with low nic -8mg and decide to start dropping the nic level to 6 - 4. then one day i decided to give 0 nic a try.. well as soon as i toked on my 0 nic i had a cough that was very irritable, i mean i was really coughing so hard, that i thought my lungs were going to explode. so all day i tried using the 0 nic, i thought that maybe it would get better, but not the case, it only got worse.. so i went back to my 6 and 4mg and i'm still coughing like crazy. i can't figure this out for the life of me.. never had an issue before, except only when i first started vaping. i'm going start drinking some herbal tea and see if this helps, if any.. keeping fingers cross.
