No a protank cannot handle a sub ohm atomizer. They do low resistance ones but they can give of burned hits and be unreliable.

In comparison a Nautilus mini with 1.8 ohm regular coils and around 50-80PG blends where there is more PG than VG will give really good clouds and a really smooth hit, you can even chain vape it all day long.
Yeah they cost a bit more, but I've tried all the protanks, geni tanks etc and all other non sub ohm tanks - the Nautilus hands down beats them for vapour production and - it is built like a tank.

Read some reviews and the only negative you will ever read is that they can over tighten, but that has never happened to me, and you don't need to screw it down t more than light finger resistance.

If you want to sub ohm you gotta buy a sub ohm tank. And there I would go for the Cool Fire 4 PV - as it goes up to 40W, so if you're firing at 30W, you are not maxing out the battery capacity. And for .5ohm coils, some liquids sometimes want about over 30W, so it's better to have the extra 10W range IMO. Plus sometimes you'll sit there and want a 25W hit, then a 28W hit and then say goodnight with some 32.5W hits, so you really can dial in the perfect hit.

In contrast to the Nuatilus Mini with stock 1.8 BVC coils being hands down the most popular non sub ohm tank - there is much more divided opinion reagrding sub ohm tanks.

In my experience and for the money the subtank Nano is the best for flavour and size and the .5ohm coils vape like champs all day long and last a long time and are a good starting point - unless you are a heavy vaper, then you might find the 3ml capacity not enough....

Good luck finding the right set up.

Wow! I don't know anything about resistance and just accepted what the guy handed me, how does resistance work? So I take it the atomizer is killing my battery fast?
Sounds like the guy at the shop doesn't know anything either. He just had you pegged for an easy mark and that's the reason vape shops get a bad name. Not only that, his lack of knowledge could end up getting someone seriously injured if they don't know what they're doing.

If you're going to get into sub-ohm stuff, you NEED to learn about resistance, ohm's law and how these effect batteries. There are several good resources on this if you do a forum search.

Yea dude! I read up on how it all works after I was told on here that my setup was not right, and after I went and read that this was literally dangerous, I went and got a sub ohm capable mod! That particular dude was never a nice guy, didn't seem to care much.

Glad you got it sorted out and found something that works before anything really bad happened. If that guy is running or working in a vape shop, I'd report him if I were you. His negligence could really end up getting someone hurt.

Will do! And also, quick question. Can all tanks vape sub ohm? Or are you supposed to use a sub ohm tank specifically? I have a protank 3 and I'm using that for sub ohm, is that safe?

The tank itself has little to do with it. Your coil determines the ohms. If the coil was made to fit in your tank, you're safe as long as you run your mod within the recommended wattage for your particular coil. (If you're using prebuilt coil heads, they should come with a sheet that gives recommended wattage levels or actually have them stamped on the side.)

the coil is 0.8 sub ohm and my battery is unregulated. vires at 4.2V i believe and goes down as the battery dies.

This same setup, a Tesla Two with a protank 3. 0.8 coil.
Ok. I looked up the Tesla 2 just because I wasn't familiar with it. It looks basically like a mechanical mod in box form. You should be OK there.
Are you using a Kanger Protank 3? They don't have that low of a coil for that tank. Sure your not misreading a 1 before the decimal?
Just looked it up. The coils come in 1.2 or 0.8 ohms.

I guess I'm thinking of another tank.

But it's totally cool to use a sub ohm atomizer on a tank like this? I'm not 100% sure

Thanks guys for all your help! I appreciate it! Just new to the whole vaping thing as I was always using a standard setup and only now I'm starting to get into the better stuff! Thanks again!

i would recommend something like a kanger subox or a joyetech eVIC VTC mini. inexpensive but very good and im positive they will handle .8ohms. perfect for tanks and RDA's alike. look into it for sure. and get a sony, lg, or samsung battery as well. here is my joyetech evic vtc mini with a kennedy rda on it. i upgraded the firmware so the readout has changed from when it was stock.
