I have in front of me, 500ml of 60 mg PG based Nicotine solution, and 8 60 ml amber glass bottles. I have a plastic funnel and would like to transfer the nic into the 8 glass bottles. I have chemical splash sleeves and nitrile gloves, what else should I be using for this? I'm a bit concerned about attempting this, what would the pros recommend? I also want to pick up some euro bottle inserts for my bottles, so I can just use a blunt needle to extract the nic from the containers, any idea where to buy JUST the inserts?

Anyway, really looking forward to getting started, but am paranoid about handling the nicotine solution, is 60mg dangerous enough that I should be using a respirator? I will be doing this in a well ventilated room, but am still a bit concerned. Thanks all!

Edit: What should I do to clean my syringes/funnel/graduated cylinder after exposing them to my nic. solution? Just rinse them well with hot water? If I put the nic solution into the graduated cylinder and THEN dilute it with my PG/VG, would it then be safe to just rinse out? Syringes and funnel are the things I'm most concerned about as far as washing them after use.

Hi Ty - I do like Iffy suggests and just make a bunch of bottles of my final mix (nic+70/30), but I am not as brave as you so I am using 36 mg nic.

This may be overkill, but whether I am just doing my nic mix or making bottles of flavored juice, I keep a small bowl of vodka and another of distilled water on the table. I run the vodka thru the syringe and then the water, and reuse the syringe on other liquids if I am not done mixing. Otherwise, I toss it into a small plastic container for hot water washing later. There may be a slight chance of cross-contamination, but the reduced number of syringes I am using in every session is worth it to me.

I also use a very large melamine serving tray on my table underneath my liquids. If I knock a bottle over at least I know the liquid will be contained in the tray and not running all the floor, or worse, me.

I welcome feedback from others if they think my cleaning process is flawed.

Sea, great suggestion on the melamine tray, I have one of those too. Invaluable for spills! For washing, I use hot, soapy water.

Ty, you'll get the hang of things pretty quickly and I'm happy to know you are safety minded. If you get nic on paper towels, be sure to seal them in a baggy before disposal, so little hands or pets can't get hold of them. I use toilet paper to wipe up tiny spills and just flush it :)

I think you should at least get some safety glasses. You don't want that stuff to accidentally get in your eyes.

Talking about spills, the tray suggestion is great. I would also recommend doing it over some kind hard floor. A carpet spill be hard to clean, and you probably wouldn't be able to get all the nicotine out of it.

TY. I use hot water for cleaning. No respirator needed, use or transfer nic in well ventilated room. I have gotten 60mg on my skin with no effects. just wash off/ I would use gloves. 100+mg you would want to be in a well ventilated area and/or respirator wouldn't be a bad idea for safety. I dont use one for 100mg and im still here.. :) Safety glasses would be a good idea that albert posted.

You should wear Safety Glasses and I would suggest doing all you work over a Cookie Sheet or over a Large Sheet Pan.

Thanks guys! I appreciate all of the feedback! I'm sure I'll get over my paranoia soon enough, but nicotine is not something to be careless about. I'll just use my splash sleeves/gloves and wear some safety glasses just in case nic. solution goes flying into my face (god I hope not!)

Also, I WOULD dilute the nic. into the strength I'll be using, but I'm not sure if I'm dead-set on a strength just yet. I'll start at 24mg and work down. Plus I'm not confident enough in my measuring skills to dilute it down and still have everything even out when I add my flavorings later. Once I get things figured out, I'll probably switch to diluting and placing into smaller containers for storage.

Any idea on the Euro bottle inserts for my 60ml bottles? I like the idea of using those, as it cuts down on the chance of large spills.

It just Never hurts to use Caution when dealing with Nicotine Base at Levels.

Yes, albertbert (aka Al Bundy), I agree that carpet should NOT be under the mixing table. I live near the beach, where many of us gave up on carpet years ago (sand destroys it) and moved to ceramic or porcelain tile, but forgot to consider other locales.

Here's what I use:

It's a litter box. I took sheets of cork and glued them together, then drilled them out to accommodate different sized bottles. Then glued hydrophobic rubber on then and cut out jokes, finally glued them to the bottom of the litterbox.

I have an old metal toothbrush holder I am going to use for syringes/pipettes, but haven't got around to it yet.

Vaping since: a while
Cigarettes avoided: lots
Money saved: probably not
