I mix 60 nic 50/50 and I just use papertowles under the area I am mixing. You could use gloves, but i don't. Ive only had the stuff on my hands once, and that was washed off with soap and water in about 20 seconds. I don't use gloves, or saftey glasses. I wear prescrip glasses. I figure the added dexterity from not using gloves would help prevent spills. Ive mixed nastier things in the lab in my chemistry class days. I mix with syringes for accuracy and they are placed in a tub of warm slightly soapy water afterwards. I keep the furry kids away from the table when I mix. They like the smells.

I do have an old soap making tray or old cookie sheet laying around somewhere. I think I'll mix on that next time. TY for the suggestions

About the 2nd time I ever did DIY, I Spazzed and Knocked Over a 60ml Bottle of 36mg Nicotine Base.

I didn’t Panic as the Bottle went Glug, Glug, Glug. I just Scooped up all the Eye Droppers, VG/PG Bottles and Other Items then Calmly Walked into the Bathroom and Poured the 36mg Nicotine Base Back into its Bottle.

If I hadn’t had a Sheet Pan under Everything, there Wouldn’t have been Anything to Contain the Rapidly Expanding Toxic Spill.

better safe than statistic.

60mg nic can kill you with just a few drops. 100mg nic even less.

When I hear of people mixing without safety gear, all I can think is "not sure if lazy, stupid or selfish..possibly combination?"

All it takes is one of these people to die, and the press can do the rest... Then we're ALL ....ed

vaping since: a while
Cigarettes avoided: lots
Money saved: probably not
devices: Yes
(insert crappy graphic and vendor logo here)

While we're at it, curious what everyone is using to mix in? I know some mix right in the bottle they're using. I picked up a glass graduated cylinder to mix with/measure. Not sure how long I'll use it, as it may be easier to mix in something else. I appreciate everyone's feedback on all of this! I have wood floors, and will also use a cookie sheet/container of some sort to mix in/over. Still going to try and find some euro bottle inserts.

If you have a Graduated Cylinder, then Measure with it and pour into a New Bottle.

I would surely take some spill precautions when dividing up 30,000 mg of nicotine into smaller bottles. That would be a serious disaster area if a full spill happened onto a carpet or rug.

Not worth messing with, to me, though I guess you wouldn't have to work with it at that level very often.

I like to work at my coffee table, on a tray, with 120ml or less of 36mg/ml.

I mix with gloves and glasses, and mix into my final containers. I mix for several people, these are from 5ml 'test batches' to 250ml 'stash batches'. I mix in a double stainless steel sink. The ingredients to be used are in one side, I mix in the other. I sit on a stool, and rest my arms on the top edges of the sink. This keeps my arms very stable, and lets me be more at eye level with graduated cylinders while they are sitting flat.

I am fortunate that I have a completely spare sink and room to be dedicated to mixing, but I would not be afraid to use the sink in the kitchen for mixing. Be cautious, and careful, it's fairly easy to be safe with this.

I clear the kitchen counter for three feet from the sink (my beloved coffee maker and foodsaver haven't complained) and mix right by the sink. Then I can drop things in the sink that need washing and have fast access to water and soap.

I didnt even think of wearing safety gear. I guess I was just being stupid. I mix with 60mg nic and didnt use any safety gear. I wear glasses as it is, but those arnt exactly safety material. I went a week without wearing gloves doing tons of mixing. I got the 60mg nic all over my hands the first couple of nights. Nothing happened. Guess I got lucky? I wear gloves now, but thats it. No sleeves or safety goggles.

I use both syringes for measuring small amounts, and graduated cylinders for larger. A good case for wearing eye protection can be made if you measure WITHOUT Luer lock syringes. It is entirely possible to blow the needle off of a small syringe, especially if you are measuring/dispensing something very thick.

I only use Luer lock syringes, but I still wear both gloves and eye protection, and a Tyvek lab coat (I am handling 100mg nic, but rarely in the open). If you wear glasses, you can get cheap plastic face shields at Harbor Freight for a couple of bucks. It protects your whole face, and easily fits over glasses.

Nano, I'm with you.
everyone else...
Ya'll give me the willies, I work with toxins regularly at work. Here's the basics for a neurotoxin. Respirator or at least a P90 dust mask ( http://www.uline.com/Product/Detail/S-10478/Dust-Masks-Respirators/Uline-Surgical-Mask) to keep any splash up off your lips, face shield, long sleve button up shirt (we use KC Professional). Latex or poly/vinyl gloves. and a spill tray. for nic soapy water rinse would be good to keep things in after they have become contaminated but before you wash them.

Keep this stuff away from your mucous membranes. (eyes nose and mouth)
