I've attempted a few times to build my Russian, and I have gotten it working well a couple of those times. The other times, although it does work, I either get poor vapor production (running between 0.9-1.2 ohms, depending on build) with cotton wicks, or I get leaking out of the airhole. I've tried a couple techniques recommended to me on ECR and I still get some leaking, and would still like better vapor production. What happens is the juice starts leaking out the airhole after I fill the tank. This lasts for a little while. I am filling from the top, not the fill hole on the bottom, if that makes a difference. Also, I let it just it leak overnight a bit, and now it seems to have stopped. Is it possible I'm overfilling the tank? I don't fill it all the way up, I leave some space, maybe 1/2 inch from the top.

And as far as vapor, I'm trying to use less cotton which I'm still unsure what "less" really means. I can't post a photo as I'm using it at the moment, but I am just hoping for some advice for my next build.

Thanks!

It's a pressurised system, if you take the top off it while it has any liquid in it, it will go out the air hole. I hear some people have success top filling by covering the air hole while they fill. Even then just by screwing the top on, you're forcing more liquid into the chamber than is supposed to be there. Use the fill hole. I'm supprised you can even take off the top without taking out the fill screw, mine won't come apart till I do.

I sounds like a coil problem with the vapor production. I too hate the leaks. I have not had problems with the air hole but the MAMMOTH fill hole on the side with no check valve. I will only buy bottom fillers with screws from now on. To fix I placed a wood Q-Tip in it and cut it off flush. No more leaks.

Could be a coil problem. I'm still new to building, so my coils aren't great, but they do work. Practice, practice, practice, I guess :)

Hey so, I used the fill hole, and it started dripping out the drip tip. It also still leaked out the airhole after I put the screw back in and put it on my mod... What the hell am I doing wrong?!

make sure that you have the oring in the top cap where the chimney goes into

Good Luck!!! :toast:

Crap, yeah I always find it wrapped around the chimney when I take it apart... This thing is becoming a pain in my ...! :)

Now I need to figure out how to know how much juice I should be putting in. I kind of guess how many droppers. Any idea how many mils an average 15ml bottle dropper is? I should probably get a measured syringe, but I'm being cheap atm.

8?????????? it (R 91) should hold 4.5 ml, i am guessing you get about 1ml in the 15 mil dropper...

If it's dripping out of the drip tip.. it sounds like you have an air leak somewhere. Maybe the plastic part is cross threaded or an o-ring isn't seated properly somewhere. I mainly fill from the top because I'm too lazy to take out the fill screw. You have to cover the air hole when you take the top off.. pour juice in it (still covering the air hole) and then thread the top on just where it catches... then flip it and let the air bubble rise.. only then can you take your finger off the air hole and finish screwing the top cap on.

That seems to be the consensus, an airflow issue. I'm thinking eventually I'm gonna have to suck it up and buy an authentic Kayfun or Russian. I love the clone, so far, aside from a little learning curve.
