CR123a Batteries and Color

Before I go out and purchase some batteries, I want to be clear on what I'm getting. I want to go with the UltraFire brand, but am seeing two colors for the CR123a's. I assume the gray ones are 'protected' and the blue ones are 'unprotected'. Am I right in assuming this?

I HAVE GRAY CR123A'S FOR MY 5V... 16340's right?
They are protected.

I have 4 of them...

I much prefer my white trustfire 16340's. Get significantly longer batt life from them.

What are you using them in?...

A Buzz from NotCig, I found some on Ebay for cheap enough but nothing in the auction says protected just that they are 3.6v 1000mAh batteries, and the picture shows them blue. But I've seen some gray ones that I know are protected, this is why I ask.

The protected ones have a little indented ring around the sides at the bottom, it's the pcb unit. The unprotected ones go straight down on the sides at the bottom.
The first pic is protected, see the indented ring around both ends?

The second one is unprotected and has no indented ring on the bottom only the top.

Hi, I am new to 6volt vaping and I just recieved my GGTS. I lOVE the GG and 6vs!! Anyway, I bought tenergy CR123a 3.0v's but I need another set and I found Titanium Innovations Cr123A 1400mah lithium photo batteries for $1! They are protected but I wasnt sure about the lithium photo part. Can I use these?

They'll work but they are not supposed to be rechargeable.
