Cracking on the USPS

I think this thread would be fun. I just wanted to see if anyone else enjoys making jokes about the USPS. Please feel free to tell your jokes of any kind.

My first one is why do the call it "first class mail"? It should really be called "Last Class Mail". The stamps should be printed on used toilet paper. I also don't understand why they call priority mail "priority". I know the government is screwed up, but they really should call it "One step above last class mail".

The USPS has changed the idea of "going postal" to "taking a break". Next time you take a break a work just say your going postal. Try not to scare your coworkers with this saying.

Up until fairly recently, the USPS had "classes" of mail. There was "first class" for letters and such. Journals and periodicals were "second class": they moved somewhat more slowly than first class mail but had much lower, subsidized rates. Then came "third class," what we call junk mail now but used to be used for business circulars and such. Finally, in the early 20th century, the USPS created "fourth class" mail, which was parcel post.

Then some USPS genius decided that having "classes" was highly politically incorrect. What if a newspaper felt bad about being "second class"? What would being called "fourth class" do to negatively impact a parcel's self-esteem?

So, all the mail "classes" were retitled to more esteem-neutral labels. "First class" became "letter mail." "Second class" became "periodicals." "Third class" became "standard mail." And "fourth class" became "parcel mail."

Sad, just so sad . . .
