Cravings

I've been vaping for a month now, mostly all the time. I still get cravings for cigarettes, though. Most weeks, I made a pack last me the entire week, having only one or two per day. However, if I have a beer, I really, really want an actual cigarette. Does this go away or is it just something I have to deal with on the weekends?

Same story for me at first too... For the first week I was vaping I was having an analog first thing in the morning, and last thing at night. I didn't have a nights drinking during this time though. The day I stopped the analogs completely I did have a few beers but vaped my strongest nic 'menthol cig replacement vape' and got through the evening without a problem. Now I hit this high nic menthol for a good 10 minutes first thing in the morning and I am good to go. I guess when we are sleeping the nic works its way out of our systems and our body says 'hey, were'd the nic go?' Now I don't really get the craving whilst drinking, but I vape like hell when there's a beer in my hand :)

It becomes less frequent but I still have the urge occasionally. Make sure you keep some high-voltage e-juice around for those times. I vape 24mg but I do have some 36mg juice on hand in case of cravings. I haven't touched it in nearly a year but it makes me feel better knowing it's there.

Same here. I vape 18 mg and carry a 24mg with me for my "911 Juice". It's worked great too!

For me, a lot of it was a "mind over matter" kind of thing. It's not really easy, but in a way you have to identify the behavior that makes you say "cigarette now" and avoid it. I'm not saying you should stop drinking beer or anything, but see if it's even linked directly to what type of beer you drink- it could be the little things.

(Not having a cigarette while drinking is pretty easy when you have a smoking ban, though.)

I'll second some of the other posters and say that a higher nic juice might be all you need! Try a 24 or a 36. I'm vaping somewhere between 18-36 and my interest in cigarettes is more of an intellectual curiosity at this point.

That's a good idea about keeping "high caliber" juice around, I'll have to remember that!

I stopped smoking altogether as soon as I started vaping, I think because I found it so much more enjoyable. I was a PAD, now I vape at 24mg nic. I think the key is to vape as much as you want. If you try to smoke like you did a cigarette (a few puffs every hour or so) that won't cut it. You should not be afraid to vape more, because it is STILL better than the cigarettes.

That's what I do. I normally vape 12mg but, I have a case and in it with my extra battery is a drip tip on an atomizer (when I'm out I use cartomizers) with a little 3ml bottle of 24mg. I don't use a lot of it but, I haven't made it through the day without hitting it at some point.

You didn't say what you're vaping. Some people need stronger flavored and/or stronger nic juices when drinking.

Also ay attention also to notice if any kinds of juice flavors make you crave a cigarettes. I used to crave an analog after vaping foody/fruity juices. So for the first two months I stuck to tobacco juices with good TH (and kept trying different ones to find ones with aromas that made me feel ahhh like smoking). Then I started mesing with the flavor of the tobacco, adding vanilla or chocolate or oRYental 4 (sweet caramel tobacco) to the plain tobacco. That led to me being able to vape non-tobacco flavors. Some people can vape foody juices right away and some can't.

I found that it takes about four days to feel like you don't want a cigarette any m ore. In other words, when you feel ready, just vape instead, and tell yourself you'll see how you feel in four days. I think that in that time enough of the OTHER stuff (dark secret cigarette ingredients!!!) is out of your system and you really will feel differently.

You might have to repeat this little game a number of times before you believe it sufficiently to realize you don't actually want one, you just want to see if you want one.

Just don't give up!

I too struggle with the analogs when drinking and first thing in the morning. Vaping just doesn't seem to cut it yet. Granted it has only been a week and I am not holding myself to any strict quitting deadlines yet. That is a good idea though about getting a higher nicotine dose for those tough times. I might try that myself.

Dormouse - I am vaping fruity/sweeter flavours (Voodoo, Maple Walnut & Caramel Apple are my 3 faves but I have others, too) because I seem to like them best. I think it was you that suggested I try the Desert Ship blend, so I'm going to get that on my next order. I'm also going to look for a Kretek/Djarum juice because the clove mix I made with Wyatt Earp is pretty vile. I keep trying it and keep going "Bleurgh. No." Sadly, I made a 30ml bottle of the crappe, too.

It's not only when I have a beer, but when I'm driving. And since I kind of have to drive, that's going to be the toughest one to break. I don't smoke cigarettes in my house, so if I'm having a beer at home, I have to reallyreallyreally want an analog. And since it's still freakin' snowing up here in Massachusetts, I've managed not to have one recently.
