Congrats on 6 days! I know the feeling and it is awesome.. My experience is a little different from yours. I not only chewed, but I smoked as well.. I think the best thing for me was having someone support me. Whether it was my girlfriend, parents, or even friends. My sisters smoke and they don't seem to be very supportive. I like to surround myself with people who are proud of what I'm doing.

I will say that I got my first "Major" craving at day 6. I haven't made it past there yet (on day 7) but that is how it was for me. It hits me when I'm playing a video game or watching a movie at the movie theater. I constantly want to throw in a chew.

Regardless, and keep strong. As far as I can see you have a forum of 70,000 people who are trying to make their lives better. That for me is enough to keep going. If one can do it, we all can!

Congratulations on your new beginning! I agree with what others have already told you: every cigarette you don't smoke is a victory and you're doing great!

I got started vaping when a friend gave me some batteries and cartomizers in flavors she didn't like. There were at least 100 cartos! I tried them and liked them but, at 11mg, they weren't satisfying. Plus, I wasn't entirely set on not smoking. So, I kept lighting up and stuffed all those free batteries and cartos in a drawer.

At work, we get a discount on health insurance if we agree to have regular appointments with the staff doctor. I went for my six month check up and she, of course, asked me if I wanted to quit smoking. I did the "oh, I don't know, I really enjoy smoking" bit and she gave me the 1 800 QUIT number, but she also gave me a brochure for a local shop, Vape Hut, that sells vaping supplies. She said a number of people were able to stop using cigarettes by vaping. So, I decided to check out the shop.

So, I gave vaping another shot, this time with better equipment and a higher level of nicotine. Being able to sample flavors on the spot was also helpful. I got my new kit on a Saturday, when I had one pack of cigarettes left. I'd vape then I'd smoke. By the end of the day, cigarettes were tasting much less good, plus the smell seemed more noticeable to me. I smoked the last cigarette in the pack the next morning, mostly to be rid of it. I put my ashtrays away and I've been smoke free since.

Like someone else already said, I never intended to quit or even cut back. I just decided to change how I got my nicotine.

I took the old batteries and cartos to work with me and handed them out for my smoking coworkers to try. So far, six of them have bought kits and five are vaping exclusively and we are all a bunch of hard core 1 to 2 PAD smokers, nearly all smoking for over 20 years ( we have a young'un who smoked for 10 years). Each of us has taken a different route to get to vaping exclusively and that's okay. I think only two have intentions of quitting smoking. Three of us are just going to vape till the end. You can't screw this up, unless you give up!

I smoked unapologetically for the better part of 40 years, had no thought of quitting until pushed into a corner by the de facto prohibition imposed by taxation, a new, creative variety of which was imposed about every 6 months near the end.

I had no motivation to quit, only to stop paying for them. E-cigarettes seemed just another goofy cessation gimmick, but at the $10 or so I payed for a disposable, I didn't have much to lose. Two weeks later, the rest was history--as were cigarettes in my life. It was an astonishing, embarrassingly easy transition.

But be forewarned: nicotine alone isn't the whole of the addiction equation; tobacco smoke contains a laundry list of nasty feel-good chemicals which vaping won't replace--and your body will never completely forget.

Congratulations! I'm completely new at this and started on Wednesday. I smoked my last analog at 2:36pm and the UPS man showed up shortly after. I havent touched, let alone thought of lighting up another analog since. But like the others have said, everyone is different. I think the main reason for me is I haven't wanted anything to do with cigarettes in a long time. To me, they taste like crap, make me smell bad, and even made me feel ill. When the craving creeped up, I thought, "dammit, I need a cig" and the whole idea was revolting. I think thats not a reaction most smokers have.

So when I learned about e-Cig's I was really looking forward to finding out more. I came here, learned what was the best to buy, and when it arrived I started right away! I havent had a craving for analogs since. I had 3 left in the pack so I walked down to the dumpster and dropped kicked the pack in and said, "Get the F out!" Had my hubby rolling, haha.

My dad on the other hand had very different feelings about analogs. He associated good feelings with the 'first one of the day' and the 'after the meal' cig. He said they were his "best friend" when he was stressed out and they helped him relax. I personally don't understand those feelings. The only thing I can think of for how anyone transitions is what their 'relationship' with analogs is. They are not my friends like they were for my dad. Which is probably why he smoked for 45 years before quitting and I only took 20. He was also forced into quitting. I'm sure he would still be doing it if it wernt for that fact.

Also, the first cart I filled was 18mg and I just couldn't get my 'fix.' I tried 24mg and it made me dizzy and a little sick feeling. I did a search here and learned if you mix 18mg and 24mg 50/50 you get 21mg. Tried that and it seems perfect for me.
Good luck to you and congrats again. :D

Don't put too much pressure on yourself. I smoked for 35 years when I found an ecig that worked. However even when I was using the ecig and really didn't have an urge for a cig I would find myself reaching for one (habit). went ahead and smoked it and little by little the ecig starting tasting better than the cig. Took me about two months to totally get off cigs.. Hardest was first thing in am with coffee, but now totally cig free! Also matters what ecig your using and what juice. The right juice and ecig will make you wonder what you ever lIked about smoking!

Oh my goodness. I took the plunge. A bunch of "reasons" added up to giving in and having a smoke.

While I read how nasty tasting and smelling smoking a cigarette can be after you've been vaping for a while I just never truly believed that would be *my* experience too. It was DISGUSTING. It tasted like burning and ash, there was no good flavor whatsoever. It was almost like I took a handful of ash out of the ashtray and chewed on it! I've only been vaping for 7 days (no cigarettes at all) and I didn't even think that would be long enough to make a difference in the taste, just the other day the smell of someone else smoking made me jealous and was like a bit of heaven. I'm so happy about this! And at the same time a tad disappointed because the juice I ordered 3-4 days ago is not even shipped yet *ack* Plus I just got my brand spanking new eGo-T today and I want to try it so bad.

And now I have to smoke these ash-tasting cigarettes. Maybe I should take a trip to the closest brick-and-mortar.... a lil over an hour away, to get some juice.

Oh! Also thank you all so very much for the warm welcome and all your experiences and tips. I've never joined a community that was so welcoming, encouraging, and supportive. You guys ROCK BALLS. Can I say rock balls? Well, I just did.
