MechaHerc,

Those type of cleaners in my experience are not for electronic equipment regardless of what they claim ("Believe me now or regret it later").

First they come out very cold and cause condensation i.e water to collect on the part being sprayed. Also have you read the MSDS for the product? The MSDS is located on the link you posted. It is very toxic, highly flammable and subject to explosive reaction in confined spaces.

Also my experience with these types of cleaners is most plastics if they don't melt they will fog-up.

Also if you are reading the ProVape comments on flushing the circuit board my very strong suggestion to you is DON'T. If your unit ever need that degree of cleaning send it to ProVape and let their Technicians take care of it. Remember unless you have an accident that drips e-juice into the circuit board you should never really have to give the unit a bath.

Just us alcohol Q-tips and/or a clean cloth. In general the only thing you should have to clean is the battery cap threads, atomizer threads and contact and the internal battery post.

PS - When cleaning the internal battery post with alcohol make sure the Q-tip is damp not dripping you don't want excess liquid to run down the post onto the circuit board. And I am going to make an absolute statement I wish that ProVape would remove the "Alcohol Bath" comments for their instruction, they are just wrong suggesting that end users should ever do it. That is something only their Technicians should do.

Am I mistaken or did I read on Provapes site that the alcohol bath was only for provari prior to 2012? Anyway, I agree with the post above and just use the 99% ISO and a qtip all is good!!

Zbeast,

Boy I would like to think the "Bath" thing is only for earlier models. Albeit I personally wish they would remove that talking point altogether.

I don't know if it was "Baditude" or "Technonut" but someone just recently posted that they gave their unit a bath and now the display is permanently foggy.

Zbeast, if you ever find the statement about baths for pre 2012 units I sure would appreciate a link to it.

Regards,

Here's that link:

A Provape employee told me in one of the other threads that I should be able to get rid of the haze on my Provari's LED display by using a long Q-tip. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/provari/476598-99-isopropyl-alcohol.html#post10890081

Baditude,

Sure glad you posted. I was trying to search the forum for your comment. I love ECF but the ECF search engine hates me !!!

Quote from Provape's Zendesk:

"**UPDATE** If your ProVari was purchased in December 2012 or later, please do NOT use the isopropyl alcohol flush."

You know the strange thing about this "Alcohol Bath" is I was under the impression that it was something that they currently supported and I think a lot of other folks think the same thing. I don't even know where I picked up the idea but I am pretty sure it was the ProVape site or Users Manual someplace.

Baditude, Let us know if the Q-tip suggestion works. I am pretty sure your not the only one that has had this problem. When you first mentioned it I felt so bad for you or maybe it was your ProVari that I couldn't even make a comment to your post. I did wonder if a Q-tip with pure alcohol would clean it but I didn't say anything because if it didn't work or God forbid made it worse... I didn't want to be on your hit list.
When I worked on nuclear weapons we used 99.99% Ethanol for cleaning (and occasional ingestion) do to the white-ish film that other solvents left behind.

@ Technonut I am glad it wasn't yours also I wish it wasn't anyone actually.

You can use a pencil eraser to clean the contacts. It does wonders. The eraser contains a small amount of abrasive and the rubber wipes of the grime.

Don't use it on gold plated contacts though. The plating is very thin and will eventually wear off. Our brass will be just fine.
